When it comes to gift giving, there are few things more blissful than the gift of a good nights sleep. In modern times, we’re all so busy rushing around, burning the candle at both ends that sleep becomes a novelty. Even when I have the best intentions of going to bed at a reasonable time, I ended up checking my phone which keeps me awake for so much longer. It’s something that I’m consciously trying to stop doing because its hard enough sleeping as it is when you don’t have much of a routine.
I got to the point where I just felt like something had to give. I couldn’t carry on feeling shattered all of the time and so I started to put some changes in place to create more of an evening routine for myself. I’ve got a long way to go until its down to a fine art but as I always say, progress is still progress.
Something that really works for me is having a good hour without my phone before bed, doing my skincare and relaxing in my bedroom rather than plodding up the stairs late on, getting straight into bed and trying to immediately switch off and fall asleep. Scent and relaxation are interlinked and I find that if I use products that feel and smell calming, I start to associate the scent with bedtime and it helps me to get into the mindset of switching off and going to bed.
Feather & Down are a brand that are new to me this year but I’m starting to hear more and more about them online because they’re that good. I’ve been trying out some of their products via their great value Christmas gift sets and I’m really enjoying the relaxing, calming benefits which aid my sleep. Scent has such a strong link to emotion and memory so finding a scent that you can relate to sleeping peacefully is ideal.
If you’re looking for a gift for a friend who likes to try a range of different products, who struggles to sleep or who travels often, then the Feather & Down Sweet Dreams Sleep Essentials Travel Set would be ideal.
It has 4 key products inside that help to encourage a restful nights sleep which is really important, especially if you’re travelling. I absolutely LOVE going away as you all know, especially abroad but I do find jetlag stressful because I always want to make sure that I’m on my A game at either end of my journey so that I can make the most of my time there and working out the timings of when to go to sleep, etc can be hard. I also suffer with anxiety and have done for years now so anything that can remind me of feeling calm, relaxed and chilled out is a must try for me.
The Sleep Essentials Kit contains the Sleep Balm, Pillow Spray, Shower Cream and Sleep Butter which all have the deliciously relaxing blend of Lavender and Chamomile essential oils within the scent to promote a restful nights sleep. The scent isn’t like other sleep products I’ve tried. While the lavender is definitely there, the chamomile and other notes are prominent too which overall create the most relaxing, unique fragrance that I associate with feeling peaceful!
They’re all easy to use and pretty self explanatory; massage the Melting Shower Cream into the skin and rinse, smooth the sleep butter into the skin all over your body, until it is fully absorbed, while you breathe in the delicious scent, spritz the Pillow Spray generously all over your pillows and bedding and just before you go to bed, rub the All-Purpose Sleep Balm into your pulse points.
If this kit sounds like something you’d like to buy and keep for yourself then do give it a go, even if you’re not travelling as its a great way to try different products out before committing to the full size!
By comparison, the Feather and Down Perfect Partners makes a lovely stocking filler or Secret Santa present. This duo contains the Relaxing Roll On which you could take out on a plane with you too if you find that it relaxes you if you’re feeling anxious and the Pillow Spray which is definitely a hero product from the Feather & Down line. Of course they’re infused with lavender and chamomile essential oils too which help to make up that beautiful fragrance across the range. These products encourage relaxation to help aid a restful night’s sleep.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on these products if you try them for yourself or gift them.
Having a routine when you go to bed is so beneficial but sticking to it is the hard part which I’m really trying to work on. Your surroundings are important too and I’ve got that down to a T as my bedroom really is my switch off zone! I’ve written more about creating a bedroom that you love to relax, sleep and wake up in, in this blog post which I would suggest checking out too!
