One things for sure, when it comes to body hair, I like mine to be none existent, streamlined to the hilt with only soft, hydrated skin on show.
From the knee down on my legs, along my arms and under my arms, I shave. It’s quick, easy and pain-free. All of which are important to me, particularly the latter as the torture of a Hollywood & my brows once a month is more than enough waxing for me. I was blessed with very strong hair that doesn’t want to be ripped out of the follicles so while my Hollywood wax has got easier over time, my brow wax hasn’t. I’m hoping that’ll mean my brows will still look relatively full as I get older!
When it comes to shaving, a great razor is essential and I’ve been trying out two from Wilkinson Sword.
The Wilkinson Sword Intuition f.a.b. is designed for women to simplify shaving. Its revolutionary design with 5 unique bi-directional blades enables you to be able to shave forwards and backwards as the top blades shade up and the bottom blades shave down. I admit, it did take me a few goes to get used to this motion after shaving one way since my teens but once I got the hang of it, I was a dab hand!
This razor has a water activated gel around the outside for an effortless glide which did work but a little too well as I found that it stopped the blades from being able to shave quite so efficiently.
Ergonomically, the razor has a soft rubber handle with grooved grips which make it comfortable and secure to hold and easy to control.
However I didn’t find that I got the closest shave with this razor and at £11.99 for 1 razor with the blade, if not on offer and a further £11.99, again if not on offer, for the 3 replacement blades that only fit this razor, I think its pretty pricey for something that I don’t find performs incredibly well.
The razor that I did find to give me a close shave however was the mens one; the Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5 Sense which comes in a few different varieties, I have the Comfort option which would make a great stocking filler for any men in your family, or women as I love it! These razors have built in shock absorbing technology which delivers a personalised amount of pressure to remove hair while helping to protect the skin from irritation and delivering a close, comfortable shave. It also features a flip trimmer which is great for men when they’re shaving as they can trim their nose hair this way too and the 7 hydrating gel pools helps to protect the skin from irritation and it hydrates it too.
Since the shave with this razor is much closer and smoother, I do think that this is the razor I’d recommend and I think that its performance means that it is better value for money and the replacement blades are too as I think you’ll get more use out of them.
I’ve been using them with the Femfresh Shower & Shave Cream and the FemFresh Post Shave Balm which are the perfect duo when it comes to shaving your pins. The Shower & Shave Cream is designed for your bikini area to help to reduce razor bumps and irritation but you can actually use it anywhere. The formula is pH balanced and ultra moisturising so it feels really beautiful on the skin.
The Post Shave Balm is again, designed for the bikini area to minimise razor bumps, ingrown hairs and to soothe redness after hair removal but I like to use it on the areas of my legs that are sometimes irritated by shaving and on the drier areas like my knees. It works a treat to keep everything nourished and hydrated!
I’m always switching up my products to get the smoothest shave possible so please do let me know what you’d recommend in the comments below;I’d love to know what works for you! Here’s another post that I put together earlier this year all about hair removal.
SHOP THE POST
I never know which razors to buy when I’m shopping, I usually end up going for whichever one is on offer.
I use the same wilkinson razor, this is such a bad time of the year as I’m not shaving as often in the summer *oops* x
I’ve actually just bought this FAB razor as there was an offer on. Not tried it yet but agree with you if it’s not on offer its pretty pricey
I must say a good razer is the one thing that I invest in, I hate body hair and love a close shave x
I have this razor and love it. Sounds like I need to try the mens version too!
Love the sound of the post shave balm, I like Wilkinson Sword as a brand.
This is very reliable brand for good razors.
I love the Wilkinson Sword Hydo 5 range and gave up on using women’s razors a few years ago. It is perfect for shaving legs, underarms and even the bikini area. You can always find great offers for blades on Amazon to <3
That Femfresh shave balm sounds amazing, I am definitely going to be looking out for that in the shops. I always buy men’s razors, I think they work a lot better than women’s!
