When it comes to love, getting married is the ultimate sign of love and
commitment for many. While it isn’t for everyone, for many people their wedding day is one of the best days of their lives and creates memories that they’ll treasure forever.
Aside from the sentiment of what getting married means, it is also the perfect chance to dress up and show your friends and relatives how amazing you look and feel. When you’re truly happy, that really shows and adding pretty hair, makeup and an amazing dress enhances that further. 1. Take Care of Your Skin
Wedding planning can get very stressful but don’t forget to take care of your skin. You can be wearing the most gorgeous dress with fabulous hair and makeup but nothing gives you a beautiful glow quite like having beautiful skin. Take care of your complexion as much as you can in the run up to your wedding day.
It is so important to develop a skincare routine that works for you and to stick to it. Don’t sleep in your makeup and make sure you’re cleaning your face thoroughly morning and night. Moisturising regularly is so important to replenish the hydration in your skin and as lipids, which are the natural fats that keep the outer layer of your skin healthy, can be destroyed by alcohol, it is a good idea to limit the number of alcoholic beverages you consume in the run up to the big day.
Try to get as much sleep as you can and relax, perhaps even whip up a homemade face mask or two. You’ll find a whole host of great recipes online such as the breakfast mask which helps rebalance oily skin, so take a look and enjoy a girly night in with several of these concoctions. It’s a good idea to have some cooling eye masks on hand for the morning of the wedding too to reduce any puffy bags if you’ve had a late or restless night.

2. Eat Healthily and Embrace Exercise and Chill Out Time
Lots of brides want to lose weight before their wedding, some want to maintain their weight but that’s entirely down the individual. Personally, I think that you should do whatever you feel is best for you without putting any extra pressure on yourself- you are perfect just as you are and your partner is marrying you for you, not for what you could be if you lost or gained weight.
However I am a firm believer that when you’re eating well, you feel better in yourself. Ensuring you’re having plenty of fruit and veg will not only make you feel good inside but it could also stop you from feeling under the weather as you’ll be getting lots of vitamins and minerals. When I’m feeling tired and stressed, if I’m not getting enough nutrients then I often end up with a cold and that’s the last thing you would want before your wedding day.
Exercising is also important for your mindset as well as your overall health. Aside from helping you to tone up, gain muscle or lose weight if thats what you’re aiming for, exercising regularly can have lots of other benefits that make you feel good. Exercise releases endorphins which are feel good hormones that can help you to deal with stress, anxiety and pre-wedding jitters a lot more easily. You’ll notice the benefit in your skin too as well as your overall well being. I can’t do lots of hardcore exercising but when I do a little bit, as much as I can, it makes me feel fantastic and it really shows in my mindset and the way that I approach other things in life.
Exercising doesn’t have to be in the gym. If you find a class that you love, exercising wont be a chore and it might even be something that you look forward to during the day while you’re sorting out all of the final preparations. You could even go for a walk as the fresh air can do you the world of good, or if you’re short on time, there are many quick toning exercises that will help you to feel your best. Its not about making you look a certain way, you’re perfect just as you are, but its more about helping you to release some stress, chill out and feel good about yourself. Some people find exercise to be very effective at doing that, others prefer to read, listen to music or do a crossword. Whatever helps you to escape and relax while feeling good about yourself and your body is going to benefit your mindset and well being.
3. Look After Your Hair
When you’re looking after yourself on the inside, it shows on the outside, especially with your hair. Eating well and regularly conditioning your hair is very important to keep your hair healthy as when you’re feeling stressed, your hair can often suffer. When I’m tired, stressed and under the weather, my hair often looks more dull and is more prone to breakage.
Proteins found in chicken, turkey, fish and dairy products can help to keep your hair strong while foods rich in iron such as green vegetables, red meat, chicken and fish will help to prevent your hair from shedding. Vitamin C which is found in many fruits and fresh juices will help in the production of collagen which strengthens the capillaries that supply the hair shafts and Omega-3 that is found in oily fish will also keep your hair hydrated and with a healthy sheen.
Treating your hair to a hair mask once a week can really work wonders on the condition of your hair. It can help to add body to your hair, preserve your colour and smooth the ends of your hair. Applying a hair mask can also serve as a pampering treat and a little bit of escapism from a busy day wedding planning.
