When it comes to this time of the year, I love nothing more than layering up my outfits and accessorising in order to keep warm. With that in mind, it is vital that the colours in my wardrobe compliment one another so that they go together when I am layering up my outfits.
For the last couple of years I have been creating a wardrobe of staple pieces that are all from a particular colour palette so that I know that every morning I can go to my wardrobe and pick out an outfit that instantly looks put together and well thought out.
At night, I like to change things up and opt for deep and dark colours but for during the day at this time of the year, I like to stick to more natural tones.
My favourite autumn and winter colour palette has to be khaki with cream and dark denim clothing and accessories featuring tan, cream and gold. They are colours that compliment each other so well and create a really beautiful dressed down look that looks so put together.
My advice for choosing your own autumn winter colour palette would be to select different colours that are in shades that compliment one another as well as complimenting you. I’m blonde with hazel eyes and slightly tanned skin thanks to my holidays this summer and so the colours that I’m wearing both compliment my skin tone, hair colour and eye colour. As you can see in these pictures, I am wearing pieces that instantly look right together, nothing is clashing, everything blends together really well and the different textures in the products can be visibly seen.
If you want to know more about the outfit that I’m wearing here then you can check out the post that I will be popping up later this week but this basically demonstrates how I put together the clothes from my winter colour palette. However I will draw your attention to the coat that I’m wearing.
Now, you know you’ve got a good coat when you can pull it out year after year. This one is really light weight and quite thin which makes it the perfect layering piece all year round. I got it from AX Paris last winter and I have worn it so much ever since. This coat looks fabulous in khaki and really ties this whole outfit together. As it is such a big item in one colour, this is the only khaki piece that I am wearing as any more khaki would really overload the outfit.
Here are some of my favourite clothing pieces in this wardrobe colour palette:
