As a self confessed girlie girl, I love a manicure. When my nails and toes are well groomed and my polish is matching, I really feel as though I’ve got my life together. Haha ok, well maybe not quite my whole life but it certainly makes me feel and look more put together. It looks really presentable, gives a good impression and can really make your entire outfit look that bit more thought out.
I do enjoy going for a manicure at a beauty salon but unless I’m getting gel nails on before a holiday, I tend to stick to doing my nails at home. It saves money and with the right tools, you can really get a salon professional result without stepping foot in a salon.
The tools that I use all come in one handy kit from Kiss. There’s everything that you could possibly need tools-wise to give yourself a salon professional manicure from the comfort of your home.
You’ll find a nail brush for exfoliating the skin around nails and for scrubbing and cleaning underneath them, which is ideal if you’ve been painting, out in the garden, to the beach; anywhere you could get a little more dirty than usual.
Theres a pair of nail scissors and nail clippers for trimming and cutting and a nail file, sapphire file and emery boards for filing and shaping. For cuticle work, there’s a cuticle pusher/cleaner thats ideal for pushing back your cuticles and a cuticle nipper for trimming away the excess.
The kit comes with a 4 way buffer too which is ideal for polishing and shining your nails so that they look perfectly neat, tidy and shiny, even if you’re not wearing any polish on top. If you’re painting your nails, you’ll find the manicure sticks handy too as they’re great for tidying up around the nails should you be a little less than careful with the nail polish brush.
All of these handy tools come packaged inside a clear travel pouch that you can use for storage when you’re not using them and of course, it makes the perfect carry pouch for travelling.
Of course you can use the tools in any way that you want but for me, if I’m doing a full manicure at home, I’ll tend to remove my polish, soak my fingers in a little warm soapy water (I just squirt a little shower gel or milk bath in!) and then use the nail brush to clean my nails. Then I’ll snip them down as I like mine short, file them into a squoval shape, push back and snip away my excess cuticle and then I’ll apply my base coat, nail polish and top coat. I always used to just apply the nail polish but saw a massive difference in the appearance and lasting power of my manicure when doing the three steps.
I’ve had many of the pieces that come in this kit over the years and they definitely cost far more money buying them individually than all together in this set. Each piece is high quality, durable and the metal tools are made from stainless steal so they’re far from flimsy. If you don’t already have a manicure kit then I’d highly suggest picking one of these up. They’re a great way to save time and money on trips to the salon!
Whether you’re someone who does their nails often or just once in a while, this affordable manicure kit will help you to stay organised and preened when it comes to your nail care whether you’re at home or on the go. It comes with a card that has full instructions on of how to use each of the tools which is really handy if you’re just starting out with your own manicure routine or if you don’t
I do tend to find that many Kiss products are difficult to locate online but in the USA, you can buy this kit here and you’ll find Kiss products online and in store in the UK from Superdrug and Boots.
