NAIL SAVIOUR | Kiss Cuticle Care Daily Maintenance System

Over the last month, I’ve got to admit that I really let myself down in my pampering routine.  I’m usually so on track with my body, hair, skin and nail care but with having a really bad kidney infection, I found that all I wanted to do was to stay in my PJs and drift in and out of sleep.

Last week, I was sat watching Bates Motel (which I’ve now finished and I’m gutted about it) when I noticed that my nails literally looked horrendous.  That might seem like a funny thing to notice but usually my nails are nicely painted and I’ll repaint them every few days so I’ll keep them in good shape and condition as I go.  However my cuticles were ridiculously overgrown and the ends of my nails were splitting and peeling which isn’t like me at all.  My nails usually look very healthy and feel strong but this was definitely something that I’d been neglecting from my routine.

To remedy this, I headed to my stash of nail care to get a file and my Renunail Nail Strengthener (review here, buy here) as well as a new kit that I had to review from Kiss.  They’ve just launched the Kiss Complete Care Treatment Systems at Superdrug which help you to kiss goodbye to damaged nails for good.  Each kit comes with a three part care routine with the new breathable technology that Kiss have created which enables the air to still get to your nails so that they can breathe while they’re being treated.

I’ve been trying out the Kiss Cuticle Care Daily Maintenance System and I’m really impressed with the results so far in little over a week.

The kit includes three items plus an orange stick; a cuticle remover, cuticle oil and travel cuticle balm, as well as an instruction booklet which is handy for if you’re not used to giving yourself a manicure.

I found the Cuticle Care Daily Maintenance System to be really easy to use.  On the first time that I tried it, I filed my nails as I would usually do when giving myself a manicure.  Then I applied the Cuticle Remover to my cuticles, which is the area of excess tissue around the nail, and left it on my nails for a couple of minutes.  The Potassium Hydroxide within the formula helped to breakdown the excess skin quite quickly and loosen the dead cuticles so that I could remove them with my cuticle snips and push the remainder back into shape with the orange stick that comes in the kit.

Following this, I used the Cuticle Oil all over my nails and cuticles to hydrate them.  It comes in a little bottle with a brush, a bit like a nail polish and to use it, you just paint it on and then massage it into the nails and the skin around the nail.  It contains a special blend of safflower, olive, jojoba and sweet almond oils and Vitamin E which help to heal, hydrate and rejuvenate dry cuticles and nails.  I could definitely tell that this was working on my nails as they looked a lot more healthy and less dry after only the first use.  After applying the cuticle oil, if you’re going to be putting nail polish on, its important to wash your hands as otherwise the nail polish wont adhere to the nail.  Its at this point that you would paint your nails, or in my case, use my Renunail Nail Strengthener.

The two steps of removing the cuticles and applying the oil are really quick and simple to complete before painting the nails so I was able to fit it into my routine pretty easily now that I’m back into it and I definitely think that its something that I will keep up because I saw such a difference in how healthy my nails, or specifically my cuticles, looked.  I think keeping your cuticles in order really helps your nails to look pristine and well groomed, regardless of whether you choose to wear nail polish of not.  This makes it perfect for those who work in professions where they’re not allowed to wear nail polish as there’s no excuse to not keep the nails looking nice!

The kit definitely worked wonders on my cuticles and helped to keep my whole nails looking healthy and hydrated and I think that it worked a treat alongside the nail strengthener I used which brought my nails back to their usual strength.  It was as if the Renunail got my nails to be strong again and the Kiss Cuticle Care kept them hydrated and nourished to stop future pealing.  The Cuticle Nail Balm in the kit definitely helped with this as well.

The Cuticle Nail Balm is a twist up, moisturising stick, a bit like a lip balm for nails that you apply to the entire nail and cuticle once or twice a day and massage it in.  It does a fantastic job at hydrating dry or cracked cuticles (this is something that Mr WLL suffers with a lot during the colder months) and brittle nails.  I’ve been keeping mine in a little pouch inside my new bag and I would say that it does go down quickly but the effect that it has on my nails is great.  I just wish that it was available separately as I can see myself using it up completely well before the other items in the kit, purely because I’m using it daily.

The Kiss Cuticle Care Daily Maintenance System and the other sets are available from Superdrug online and in store for only £7.99.

I'm sorry that you've been sick too, Laura. Hope you're doing better. A few years ago, I worked as a consultant for Kiss, and though my client has moved on, I'm still interested in their products. In fact, I think they've really stepped up their game. These look great. I have a nail balm that I love but it's very expensive, so when I finish it, I am give this one a go!
