Today’s post is a super important one, so please listen up!
Renowned New York skincare brand, Kiehl’s, have released a limited edition pot of their much loved Ultra Facial Cream with a label created by the MTV Staying Alive Foundation ambassador, Tinie Tempah to raise money to help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.
The MTV Staying Alive Foundation is a global charity that supports innovative projects that aim to stop HIV before it even starts. In the last ten years, they have supported the growth of an amazing 538 awareness-raising projects all over the world. They’ve also helped 200,000 people to get tested and distributed over 7 million condoms.
Their work is so important to everyone, all over the world and it is great to see that they have been chosen as Kiehl’s official UK Charity partner for 2015.
Pots of the Ultra Facial Cream with the limited edition label design are on sale now at all of Kiehl’s 102 boutiques and department store points of sale across the UK as well as online here, making it easy for you to snap one up and support the cause as £2 from every sale goes to help prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS.
Kiehl’s will also be raising money and awareness through special activities and handouts for customers in store. I’m so excited about checking this out as my local House of Fraser at intu Metrocentre has recently undergone a massive multimillion pound refurbishment and Kiehl’s are one of a number of selected brands who have been added to their beauty hall.
However this isn’t the first time that Kiehl’s have worked to fight the HIV and AIDS epidemic. They have a longstanding heritage of doing so, going back to the 1980’s when the disease was even considered to be a taboo topic to talk about.
I love it when brands work to support causes that they’re passionate about; even in the last 10 years alone, Kiehl’s have raised more than $2.5 million for the cause. I’m a big believer in stewardship and leaving things better than I found them, making an impact and encouraging others to better themselves and the world they live in which is why I believe in the campaign so much. Working on the campaign’s notion that given the right tools, every young person has the potential to help protect their generation and beyond from HIV, this Foundation could really make a massive difference in the world as it is reaching out directly to the people that have the power to change the future.
The limited edition pot is available on sale right now so whether you’re looking for a new skincare product to try, especially with the cold weather fast approaching as you’ll need something hydrating, or you already love this moisturiser and want to pick up a back up, now is your opportunity to snap up one of these limited edition pots while also giving back and donating to charity too.
I’ve been trying my pot out over the last week and wanted to give you my first impressions: I LOVE IT!
The Ultra Facial Cream is a fabulous moisturiser that can be used morning and night to add hydration to the skin. This is one of the only creams that I’ve found to actually work incredibly well for my super oily skin morning and night as usually I need to opt only for a very light moisturiser or a serum alone for the morning and then layer up with a thicker cream at night to replenish the moisture in my skin.
When I first saw the Ultra Facial Cream in the pot, I mistakenly thought that it would be a very rich, thick cream and it is in the sense that it adds an incredible amount of hydration and nourishment to the skin like you would expect from a rich, thick cream but it actually feels incredibly light to the touch, glides onto the skin and sinks in quickly and effortlessly. It had a visibly hydrating effect from when I very first applied it which makes me really excited to see the results after using it longer term.
The Ultra Facial Cream is actually designed to help to reduce moisture loss while drawing and absorbing moisture from the air, binding it to the skin if you will. I’m going to decant some of mine into a smaller pot as I’ve just booked up to go to Poland in December and while I’m so excited to experience another country, I’m not looking forward to the freezing temperatures drying out my skin. I have a feeling that this cream will work wonders from the moment I get onto the plane until I land back in the UK and beyond!
I love the softening effect that it has as it leaves my skin looking and feeling smooth which makes it a great base for makeup, even when your skin is as oily as mine is and it doesn’t cause me to become more oily at a quicker rate throughout the day like some creams do! I’m testing out a lot of different makeup products at the moment, base products in particular and I’ve had friends staying so I’ve been out a lot more doing activities that I wouldn’t regularly do so even though I’ve only been using this cream for a short while, I’ve really put it through its paces. I would most definitely recommend picking up a pot as so far, it is working wonders for me, plus it is a great opportunity to be able to donate to a very worthy cause.
Not only that, Kiehl’s and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation have also set up a text line in case you’re based in the UK and would like to donate more to this worthy cause.
Simply text HIV1 to 70660 to donate £5 or you can text HIV1 £x to the same number to donate your chosen amount up to a maximum of £10.
The HIV1 code is specifically dedicated to Kiehls stores and customers so that they will be able to track all of the donations through this channel back to Kiehls and see just how much money they have raised to help those at risk of HIV all over the world.
Kiehl’s were kind enough to send over a pot of their cream to me so that I could photograph it and spread the word to all of you. However I have also made my own donation via text and topped it up with the gift aid option which is really easy to do as after you’ve sent your donation text, you get a confirmation text with a gift aid link sent straight back to you!
You can join in to help Kiehl’s to spread the word about this great cause yourself by sharing the news of their collaboration on Twitter and Instagram. Let’s stop HIV before it starts with #TINIExKIEHLS @kiehlsuk @tinietempah @mtvstayingalive.
