With a new year, and a new decade in case you hadn’t heard, comes the chance for changes both significant and small. There always seems to be two camps at this time of the year, New Year New Me and New Year Same Me but while there’s nothing wrong with either, I tend to take the approach of loving myself who who I am at that exact moment while also striving for the things that I’d like to achieve for myself and I. My life. There’s nothing wrong with change, I used to fear it as so many people do, but what is wrong is feeling the need to change because of societal standards, the media and others opinions. There isn’t anything wrong with setting yourself goals for anything you’d like to achieve in your life be it having your brows micro-bladed, becoming fitter or learning a new language but it’s so important to be grateful for what you have now, proud of what you’ve achieved so far in life and to love yourself now while you’re working on any changes as many don’t happen overnight. Many may take some time and a lot of dedication, which is all worth it in the end but often it’s best to set small goals and smash them to get you towards your bigger goals. Focus on the little changes and be proud of yourself!
If you want to make some minor improvements to who you are once 2020 rolls around (or even before that), be sure to keep reading. Here are some ideas of where to start, and though they may seem small, they’re sure to make a big difference.
Treat Yourself
Treating yourself is always something that will go down a storm, and you know what? You deserve it. The only issue is that there are so many ways to treat yourself that it can be challenging to figure out what to do, but don’t worry, here are some ideas for you.
If there is anything you’re still not entirely happy about, such as your smile maybe not being as bright as you’d like, then a Cosmetic dentist could be the solution but it’s important to remember to appreciate and love the smile you have NOW because if you don’t love yourself now, changing that one thing won’t be a miracle solution to happiness. Alternatively, hit the high street and treat yourself to a spending spree for both work and play, or look for some last-minute holiday deals to get away from the grim weather.
Self care or indulging in yourself is a great way to boost confidence and give yourself some time to relax and reflect. You’ve worked hard all year, so you’ve earned this.
Spice Up Your Look
If you fancy a change, spicing up your look can make you feel like you have been given a new lease of life as you stride confidently into the new decade.
It might be that you look back on photos and can’t tell much of a difference, well now is the time to change that. Spicing up your look can be as small as a new hairstyle, getting another piercing or even a tattoo if you have one in mind. It could be trying that new outfit you’ve been lusting after or a new makeup style. You’ll know it’s right for you if you look in the mirror, smile and feel happy!
Whatever it is, you’ll feel different and cleansed of the previous decade ready to take on whatever comes next.
Ditch The Self-Doubt
You may, however, want just to bring back your glow, and the best way to do this is by ditching the self-doubt that might have plagued you for as long as you can remember. Being comfortable and confident in yourself is such a positive feeling and attracts more positive things to you.
No matter what you want to do, leaving your self-doubt in 2019 will allow you to free yourself of the shackles of believing you’re not good enough. You can get that new job or promotion. Your art is good enough for a wider audience (not just your dog to drool over), and you are a fascinating person with exciting stories to tell.
Often, all you need to make the adjustments you want is a little attitude change, and realising that you are worth it is the best way to do this.
Not New, But Certainly Improved
These are not New Year’s Resolutions, but instead small ideas that you can consider to start the next decade in the best way possible; in the way that’s right for you. All too often in life do we life by other people’s standards and rules but it is often at a detriment to our happiness. Let’s make this decade about finding our own happiness and as long as we’re not harming anyone else, there’s nothing wrong with it!
