When I was invited along to the televised Made In Tyne and Wear Lifestyle Awards with top Sunderland hair salon, Frances Marshall, I knew that I needed a pretty special dress for the occasion.
Believe it or not, I didn’t have any autumn/winter black tie dresses in my wardrobe as all of the pieces that I had were more suited to the daytime. I headed straight to Simply Be, ASOS and Very in search of a Little Mistress occasion wear dress.
They have a gorgeous curvy line and all of the dresses are stunning; very much an extension of their standard line and for when I want to look very pretty, feminine and elegant, I’ll always look at their range first.
Alas, I had no such luck in finding a dress and so I headed to the Little Mistress website in search of extra stockists. It was here that they have a FULL CURVY SECTION on their actual website. I couldn’t bloody believe it!! I don’t know how long its been on there or how late to the party I am with it but seeing it there pleased me greatly. They also have curvy lines in their other ranges; Girls On Film and Paper Dolls.
I was spoilt for choice but as soon as I saw the Little Mistress Curvy Navy Embellished Neck Maxi Dress, I knew it was the one.
When my dress arrived, I couldn’t wait to open the packaging and try it on. It fit like a glove!
I did order another plus size navy dress from Little Mistress and while it was beautiful, it just wasn’t the one for me as it was a little too big on the bust and the way that it sat on the strapless side, it make my bust look like it was sagging which I didn’t think was too flattering. This dress on the other hand, fit perfectly!
The Little Mistress Curvy Navy Embellished Neck Maxi Dress is a full length, fully lined chiffon dress. It is gathered at the waist and under the bust and has an elasticated back.
The main body of the dress has a sweetheart neckline which is one of my favourite shapes as I find it to be so feminine and flattering. The top part of the dress is my absolute favourite because it has a sheer panel that is embellished with beautiful diamantes and pearls which look so pretty.
With such a beautiful, elegant dress, masses of accessories aren’t necessary. I paired it with a silver crystal box clutch bag (similar/designer alternative) and my Dune Niki sandals (also available here, here and here).
I’ve actually had these sandals for about six years now. I remember buying them to wear to my engagement party and my jaw nearly hit the floor when I got to the till and realised they were £55! It was a hell of a lot of money for me to spend on, lets face it, dressy flip flops, at the time however six years on and still looking in as great condition as they are, they were definitely worth the money.
For accessories, I paired my outfit with my StudioB bangles and my Swarovski solitaire stud earrings.
If you’re looking for a stunning occasion wear dress for a ball, party, wedding or another special occasion then I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Little Mistress. Their plus size and standard lines are both incredible.
