How is your hair feeling after the summer? A little dry? Lack lustre? Generally undernourished? Then this NEW hair care range is for you!
Read on because after trying out these new L’Oréal products, my hair is feeling fabulous…
L’Oréal Professionnel have launched their brand new Série Expert Nutrifier range of hair care products that are designed to combat undernourished, post summer hair. As someone who goes on holiday to hot destinations quite often, I have to work hard to combat the effects of that on my hair.
The sun, salty sea water and chlorine can play havoc with my hair and dry it out on the ends if I’m not careful and it seems as though dry hair is a major concern of so many women in the UK too.
I really think that this range will be able to help a lot of women who need that extra nourishment on their hair.
There are five take home products from the range plus an in salon treatment which are all free from silicones.
The star product, which also happens to be my favourite from the line, is the L’Oréal Professionnel Série Expert Nutrifier Glycerol + Coco Oil DD Balm.
This is a ‘Dryness Defense’ leave-in hair treatment that was created to help to moisturise and nourish hair that is dehydrated with dry and frazzled ends. For me, this is the perfect product because, while my hair is oily at the roots (also a pain… dry shampoo is my bestie!), it is dry on the ends; especially now that I’ve just had my Great Lengths hair extensions taken out. My hair is in desperate need of a proper trim but I’m holding off having it cut until I go to Dubai.
The DD Balm is so nourishing and leaves my hair looking in great condition. This is especially so on second or third day hair when I’ve used dry shampoo in my roots as once brushed through, it can leave my ends looking drier. This balm really conditions my layers and ends and leaves my hair looking perfected, soft and healthy. It has a natural sheen to it that isn’t too shiny or oily looking, just healthy!
Its also great for picking out random sections of hair where the light will hit and smoothing a little through for added shine.
This treatment has a professional concentration of Glycerol within the formula. This works to restore optimum hydration levels in the hair and it has Coconut Oil too which helps to replenish essential fatty acids to plump and soften individual follicles and seal the appearance of split ends.
While we all know that a great hair cut is the best thing for split ends, if you’re in between appointments like I am then this is an absolute godsend. I use it to smooth the ends of my hair when it is freshly washed whether I’ve blasted my hair off with the hair dryer like in these photos or properly styled it and I use it more or less every day in between washes too. It smells amazing and feels luxurious without being heavy or greasy on my hair which is unusual for such an intensive balm.
You’ll find that the inclusion of glycerol and coconut oil is a common theme within the formula of the Nutrifier range as they’re all designed to hydrate and nourish the hair and get it prepared for the winter months.
Glycerol imitates the hair fibre’s natural nourishing elements which deeply enhances its nutrition while the coconut oil nourishes the hair without overloading it or weighting it down; by nature, it adds lustre and shine while preventing breakage and split ends.
It all starts in the shower with the L’Oréal Professionnel Nutrifier Glycerol + Coco Oil Silicone-Free Shampoo and the L’Oréal Professionnel Nutrifier Glycerol + Coco Oil Silicone-Free Conditioner.
The shampoo thoroughly cleans my hair regardless of how much product build up I have on it (I’ll always shampoo once to remove product and a second time to clean my hair if I have been using a lot of heavy products such as dry shampoo and hair spray) and it leaves my locks feeling silky soft. I find that some shampoos dry my hair out and leave it feeling like cotton wool, especially when wet but this one doesn’t at all. A little bit of this shampoo goes a long way and it lathers gently too which is great for if you like to give your scalp a massage as you wash your hair.
The Nutrifier Conditioner feels lightweight and deeply nourishing at the same time. Like with the shampoo, a little goes a long way and it smooths effortlessly through the hair. I tend to squeeze the excess water from my hair, apply this conditioner to the mid lengths and ends each time that I wash it and then leave it on my hair for a couple of minutes while I use my shower gel, etc.
It leaves my hair feeling so soft and it definitely has a detangling effect on my hair as it is so much easier to comb and brush through after using the conditioner. My hair has more of a healthy sheen to it after I’ve used this conditioner and even more so when I’ve used the treatment masque from the range.
The L’Oréal Professionnel Série Expert Nutrifier Masque is an intense, deep conditioning treatment for the hair. If you’re just starting out with this line for the first time then you’ll notice a BIG difference after first using this mask, at least I did and then after that its a case of using it weekly to keep the nourishment topped up.
To apply the masque, I shampoo my hair, skip conditioner and towel dry my hair. I then apply it all over my hair from root to tip and comb it through to ensure that it is evenly distributed through my whole head. Then I leave it on while I exfoliate, shave my legs, etc before washing it off. The pot says to leave it on for 3 to 5 minutes which is ample time to get all of my bathtime pampering done but I’ve also left it on for far longer without any adverse results, just extra nourishment!
My hair feels INCREDIBLE after using this masque; so silky soft with an added shine.
It does make my hair feel almost slippy, its THAT soft, so its best for days when I’m wanting to dry my hair and wear it straight. If I were wanting to pin it up or curl it, then it wouldn’t hold and would drop out… unless I were to use a super strong hold hair spray which would also dry my hair out and completely defeat the purpose of using the hair mask in the first place!
Finally, for blowdrying, the L’Oréal Professionnel Série Expert Nutrifier Blow Dry Cream is a great companion because it is a treatment that nourishes dry hair while acting as a heat protectant.
I’m sure we’re all guilting of drying our hair without using a heat protectant from time to time but it is so damaging to the hair. Heat styling the hair everyday can lead to brittle and frazzled ends and hair breakage which none of us want, I’m sure.
You might get away with not using a heat protectant once in a while but if you’re trying to grow your hair like I am then you really don’t want to take the risk. Using this blow dry cream will ensure that the hair is protected from temperatures of up to 230°c.
After getting out of the shower, I tend to towel dry my hair and then leave it to air dry while I apply my body cream. Then I’ll apply this blow dry cream through my hair before blowdrying my hair roughly and then when its 80-90% dry, I’ll use a round brush to smooth the cuticles and to give my hair either a sleek or bouncy and volumised look. I love that this products is protecting my hair while hydrating it and like the other products in the range, it doesn’t make my hair greasy either!
What really surprised me with using these products is how they didn’t weigh my hair down, even if I used them all together as part of my routine. They leave my hair feeling so soft and nourished but they don’t make it go greasy sooner than it usually would do.
Aside from how well they perform, my favourite thing about these products is their luxurious scent. Its just like a perfume and if they could bottle the scent as a fragrance, I’d definitely buy it!
If you’re in the North East then I’d highly recommend heading to top Sunderland salon, Frances Marshall, in the city centre to buy your L’Oréal products. I have been having my hair cut and coloured there exclusively for over a year now and their expertise is second to none.
Alternatively, the L’Oréal Professionnel Série Expert Nutrifier line can be purchased online here and here. You can also find your nearest L’Oréal Professionnel stockist here; the stylish gold bottles will certainly stand out on the shelf!
