Feast your eyes on these beauties.
Makeup Revolution have launched their Iconic Pro Lipsticks and let me tell you, they’re superb.
Housed in sleek black packaging with rose gold detailing, they look every inch the high end lippy but at the super affordable price tag that we’ve all come to love from Makeup Revolution. I really feel as though they’ve stepped it up a notch with these lipsticks, visually with the packaging and that’s before I’ve even swatched them.
They’re gorgeous and feel really luxe when I’m putting one out of my bag to apply when I’m on the go, which is the same kind of feeling that I get when applying one of my Chanel lipsticks.
The Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick line has 20 lippies in total with a fabulous mix of shades from nudes to brights and classic reds to vampy dark hues. Theres some of the most up to date, lusted after shades amongst the range and what I love about the shade selection the most is that theres a colour for every season here. This isn’t a collection that is to be solely reserved for the summer, there are colours here that you can wear all year round, some that are suited for warmer weather and some that are suited for the colder months.
The black bullets remind me of MAC lipsticks and theres a fair few dupes in the line too, can you spot any?
As well as there being a variety of shades, these lipsticks differ in finish too. There’s a number of shades that have a matte finish which have a consistency that I would liken to the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipsticks (check out my post here for a review of two of her newest ones!), then the other shades either have a satin finish or a formula that I would liken to the MAC cremesheen formula in that they’re pigmented, creamy and have a sheen to them.
Lets have a look at the gorgeous shades… First up, the nudes.

Some of the same shades are available in the matte and creamy formulas, others are only available in the creamier formula. Game of Mystery and Game of Mystery Matte are examples of the former. This colour very much reminds me of MACs Shy Girl.
There are three other nudes in the collection, all of which are currently battling it out to become my favourite. They’re all very similar with only subtle differences between them. If you look at the swatches below, I’m sure you’ll see why I’m finding it difficult to choose between them; they’re all so darn beautiful!

Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick in You Are Beautiful
Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick in You’re A Star
You’re A Star definitely has a look of Seventeen’s Mirror Shine Lipstick in Beehive (my fave drugstore nude) about it in that its a nude with a hint of pink in it.
All three of these nudes are very wearable, everyday shades. They look great with a natural makeup look or with a smokey eye. They feel so creamy and comfortable to wear on the lips and they wear very evenly. Absolutely Flawless in particular seemed to be very long lasting for a creamy nude. I love the nudes the most because of how easy to wear they are!
Moving onto the pinks and theres a shade here to suit everyone from the Barbie coloured hues right through to more rosy tones.

Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick in If It Eats You Up Matte
If It Eats You Up and If It Eats You Up Matte are a bright, Barbie pink that have a blue undertone so they’re the kind of pink that make your teeth look whiter rather than yellow like some pinks with a yellow undertone can.
We Were Lovers and Make It In The City seem to have a slightly lighter formula with more of a sheen to them that makes them look really glossy on the lips.
They do look a little patchy in the swatches but they don’t apply like that at all. They smooth on without any issues.

I am really impressed with how pigmented these lipsticks are. They really rival my high end lipsticks and nothing about them feels cheap or second rate- and why shouldn’t they? Just because they have a lower price point doesn’t mean that they should be a lower standard of lipstick and these certainly aren’t. Makeup Revolution really have done us proud with these lippies girls.
Moving on to the more daring shades of the bunch, there’s Liberty and Liberty Matte which are the most beautiful purple colour and unlike anything that I’ve ever worn before.

These shades are really fun and I do think that there’s a lot of people who could pull them off, especially those with very dark skin. One of my best friends wears a purple lipstick by MAC called Up The Amp often and it looks amazing against her gorgeous dark skin.
Liberty is my favourite. Although the two are essentially the same colour, there’s just something a little different about Liberty and I like the look of it on my lips. It very much reminds me of Heroine by MAC.
I think this would be a really fun shade to play around with to see what eye makeup, etc would compliment it.
Moving onto the more vampy shades in the collection which I can see being so popular this autumn. The weather up here in the North East has been very hit and miss this week and I’ve actually been wearing jumpers so I can tell that the colder weather is on its way and with that, a change in my wardrobe and makeup style.
Firstly, theres Blindfolded which is a bit of a stand out as it has the most unusual colour that is so different to anything else I’ve seen out there as it is like a very dark, almost black cherry kind of colour. Then theres Looking Ahead which is a red brown shade that Kylie Jenner would surely be proud to wear and No Perfection Yet which is pinky berry shade that I can see myself wearing with this burgundy floppy hat that I bought last year.

I’ve got to say that Blindfolded was the most disappointing of the bunch for me but even then I wasn’t too disappointed, like I say, these lipsticks are REALLY good.
Aside from being a colour that I wouldn’t usually wear, Blindfolded swatched in quite a patchy way and seemed to be rather uneven on the lips. This meant that I needed to be careful with my application and I found myself going over my lips a few times so that they looked even in the end. Like I said, it isn’t a colour that I would choose but now that I’ve seen how it looks in the photo, there is something about it that I actually really like.
The red shades in this range are absolutely fabulous and I can see those that love red lipsticks really enjoying these.
Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick in Duel
Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick in Duel Matte
First of all there’s Duel and Duel Matte which are a bright, eye catching shade of red. They’re a very wearable colour that I think the vast majority of people would suit. Sometimes wearing a red lipstick can seem a little scary but these colours make the task a little less daunting as they’re so easy to wear.
I find that they do stain the lips a little which I don’t mind at all as I find that as the colour wears off, I’m still left with a little colour underneath.
Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick in Propaganda
Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick in Propaganda Matte
Propaganda and Propaganda Matte are the other red offerings in the collection. This shade is more of a true, traditional red. It has a sexy and classically feminine look to it.
The colour reminds me of the sophistication that comes with wearing Christian Louboutin red soles and like those shoes, this lipstick would be fabulous to wear on a night out!
I found that some of the matte reds seemed to drag on the lips a little as I was applying them. Not in an uncomfortable way, they just needed warming up a little. These were the best colours for not transferring easily as well. They really seem to stay put for a long time.
There are two lipsticks in the collection that I would class as summertime brights and they are Somewhere Out There and Not In Love. These are bright and fun but exceptionally wearable shades that look fabulous in the summertime when you’re wanting a lipstick to brighten up your look. Even if you’re wearing an all black outfit, if you slick one of these on, you’re good to go.
Somewhere Out There is a neon orange shade. It is a very true orange colour with the most fantastic colour pay off. All of these lipsticks are very pigmented but this one in particular is fabulous. It feels so creamy when applying it and is long lasting on the lips. It reminds me a lot of Morange by MAC and in all honesty, it is just as good when considering the significant price difference. If you were wanting to pick up that lipstick, I’d save yourself the money and choose the Makeup Revolution version.

Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick in Not In Love
Not In Love has to be my favourite shade out of the entire collection of Iconic Pro Lipsticks. It is a coral pink shade that is very reminiscent of Impassioned by MAC. I didn’t have that lipstick for so long until I saw it on my lovely friend Zoe from the youtube channel Mammafulzo and I was convinced to buy it immediately!
I was expecting some of the brighter or darker colours from this line to bleed a little but they didn’t. There was a very small amount of bleeding from a couple of them but that was very easily resolved and when I tried them out for a second time with a lip liner, it didn’t happen at all. I also found that the lipsticks would blend very nicely with one another, for example if you were creating an ombre lip look. Another great thing about them is that they layer really nicely with other lip products such as a lip liner and gloss.
The Iconic Pro Lipsticks are currently available only from the Makeup Revolution website but they’ll be coming to Superdrug very soon too. I’d highly recommend them as for the quality, pigmentation, comfort, wear time and price, you really cannot go wrong!
