My Jo Malone Collection

Some girls buy shoes, some girls are attracted to handbags.  For me, its perfume.  Specifically Jo Malone.

I’ve tried lots of Jo Malone products over the years; the Pomegranate Noir Bath Oil being a personal fave.  Today I am going to share my current Jo Malone collection which has been requested so many times on my Instagram and Twitter so I hope you enjoy seeing what is in my stash at the moment.

Some of these were purchased as gifts by my friends and Mr WLL, others were purchased by myself.  Prepare yourselves for a long post as I didn’t want to just show you the fragrances but review them too.

Let me first show you the fragrances I have.  Starting with my latest favourite perfume, the Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia Cologne.

All Jo Malone fragrances are available in a 30ml size  (£39) and a huge 100ml size (£78).  I generally prefer to buy the 30ml size because I travel a lot and this size is great for my toiletry bag and for popping in my handbag when I go out for the day.  When I REALLY in love with a Jo Malone fragrance, I then opt for the 100ml too so that I can have one at home and one in my bag.  Whilst the fragrances do look pricey initially, they are such good value for money because a little spritz goes a long way and they are such great quality, they last for ages.

Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia Cologne 30ml

This is my most worn fragrance right now.  It smells incredible, so feminine and girlie.  Jo Malone describe the English Pear and Freesia scent as capturing ‘the essence of autumn- mellow, cool, golden.’  The scent is fruity and floral without being sickly sweet.  It has a mellow, almost powdery base to it that really makes it something special.

The first time I wore this I went to fill the car up a lady came straight up to me at the till and asked what I was wearing.  It is just so beautiful.  This fragrance has top notes of King William Pear which give it some freshness, heart notes of Freesia and Base Notes of Patchouli.  It also has amber and woody notes coming through too.  I mostly wear this scent during the daytime and layer it up with other scents to make it a little deeper for the evening.  I would say that it lasts a good five hours before I feel as though I need a little top up.

Then I have two bottles of my favourite Jo Malone fragrance, Pomegranate Noir.  I think that this is one of Jo Malone’s most popular scents as it is so unique, very fruity but very deep too.  This is the perfect evening fragrance for me.

Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir 30ml

Pomegranate Noir is my date night fragrance.  It is a sensual mix of pomegranate (the top note), raspberry and plum combined with pink pepper, Casablanca lily (the heart note) and Guaiacwood (the base note).  It really is a complex, enigmatic and sexy take on a fruity fragrance; unlike anything I’ve tried before.

If you like scents that last all day and then some, then Pomegranate Noir has to be it.  When I’ve been wearing a particular jacket at the same time as this fragrance, when I put it on later in the week, I can still smell the scent on my jacket.  It is very strong and a little overpowering for some but for me, I love it.

Pomegranate Noir makes a great layering scent, in fact all of the Jo Malone fragrances do as they’re designed to be worn alone or combined with other scents to create your own, bespoke, signature scent.  I am literally addicted to this scent that I got a second bottle to layer with another scent on a very special occasion coming up…

The fragrance that I have found that layers the best with Pomegranate Noir is Blue Agava and Cacao.

The Jo Malone Blue Agava and Cacao scent is truly something special.  It is a sexy and alluring scent with an edge that is so individual.  Combining lime, grapefruit and blue agava flower with sea salt, cacao, vetiver, cinnamon and musk which is my favourite note in any perfume as it really adds depth and warmth.

If you like Soap and Glory’s Sugar Crush Body Wash (buy here) then I think you’ll like this scent because it has top notes of Key Lime which is what Sugar Crush smells like.  Although Blue Agava and Cacao is a much more complex, luxurious scent.  It’s heart notes are Agava Flower and it has base notes of Cocoa Bean which seem to give it a little warmth because its deep and dark, combining vanilla with chocolate.

Jo Malone Blue Agava and Cacao Body Crème 175ml

Jo Malone Blue Agava and Cacao is another strong, long lasting scent.  To make it last even longer, I have the body crème to layer it with.  At £50, it isn’t a cheap product by any stretch of the imagination but if you’re looking for something that is intensely fragranced for a special event then I couldn’t recommend this cream enough.  It is as strongly scented as the perfume, if not more so and a little goes a very long way so you wouldn’t actually use that much of it.  I have found the same with all Jo Malone body creams that I’ve used.

The Jo Malone Blue Agava and Cacao Body Crème is rich in texture and feels incredibly luxurious when you apply it to the skin.  The fragrance lasts on the skin for hours and hours.  It sinks into the skin relatively quickly and has almost a powder feel to it, so it doesn’t leave a greasy film on the skin, it just makes the skin feel great and smell amazing.

Aside from wearing it at a fragrance consultation, I have never worn this fragrance as again, I’m saving  it along with the body crème and a bottle of the Pomegranate Noir perfume to wear together on a special occasion I have coming up.  However there’ll be more on that in another post…

Jo Malone Fragrance Combining Set

Another way to try out the Jo Malone fragrances and to try your hand at fragrance combining is with their Fragrance Combining Set.  The idea is that this set enables you to become the creator of your own bespoke fragrance by layering the scents in the set.  There is a card the comes in the scent to advise you of the best combinations to create fresh and warm scents.  The latter being my preference perfume wise- generally speaking.

It contains six different fragrances which are all 9ml in size.  The packaging of these perfumes is tremendous as they’re literally just smaller versions of the usual Jo Malone perfumes and they have a spray pump which I love because I hate small perfume samples where you need to tip some out and dab it on the skin- what a faff on!

The fragrances in the set are Blue Agava and Cacao and Pomegranate Noir which I have talked about above and again, I’m saving these two for something special…!  The other scents are the Grapefruit cologne, Lime, Basil and Mandarin cologne, Amber and Lavender cologne and Orange Blossom cologne. Another obvious added benefit of this set is that you get to try out the smaller sizes without committing to a full size product.

I like all of them except for the Orange Blossom scent as it has a floral bitterness to it that cuts through the orange, making it very floral rather than fruity like I had first expected.  It has top notes of Clementine Flower, heart notes of White Lily and base notes of Orriswood and it doesn’t get much better as it dries down either. Not my cup of tea at all.  In comparison, my favourite out of the scents I hadn’t before has to be the Amber and Lavender cologne.  This is a very masculine smelling, spicy scent with top notes of  Petitgrain, heart notes of French Lavender and base notes of Amber.  I know this probably sounds crazy but you know that amazing man smell, yeah this smells like that!

The other two products that are in the set are both citrus scents making them fresh and awakening.  Theres the intricate Lime, Basil and Mandarin which is a complex fragrance made up of top notes of Mandarin, heart notes of Basil and base notes of Amberwood.  This isn’t a fragrance I would usually wear alone, instead I layer it with Pomegranate Noir and it smells amazing.  The other citrus scent is Grapefruit which has top notes of Grapefruit, heart notes of Rosemary and base notes of Moss.  This is a very refreshing scent that is perfect for the summer time when you’re looking for something a little lighter.  It also works very well with the other citrus scent in the set and with the Orange Blossom cologne.

I’m not sure if this is available any more as it isn’t on the Jo Malone website and on Amazon, a seller has said that it is discontinued and is selling a set for over £600 which is definitely not worth it!  You can find quite a few sets on Ebay for a little less than the original price.  I’m sure I paid around £80 for this set but don’t hold me to that as I’m not 100% positive.

Next I’ll show you the home fragrance items that I have.  These are actually the newest additions to my collection and I couldn’t be happier with them as they’re a different home fragrance scent to the others I’ve tried before.  Jo Malone make reed diffusers that are so highly scented they last for such a long time as well as candles and room and linen sprays, all of which I have been using in the famous Pomegranate Noir scent for a long time.  That was until Mr WLL got me the English Pear and Freesia Room Spray as part of my Valentines Day gift.

Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia Scent Surround Room Spray

The Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia Scent Surround Room Spray is absolutely gorgeous.  It smells just like the perfume, although not as concentrated and gives a real burst to your room when you spray it.  I like to use this one in either the living room or the bedroom and it is instantly recognisable.  The scent is very pure which is great for me as I generally can’t abide the artificial scent of air freshener whereas this simply leaves my rooms smelling beautiful and the bottle even looks nice left out on a side table.

The packaging is nice in that it is in keeping with the Jo Malone style but it is quite noticeably slightly cheaper looking than the perfume but that is to be expected from a room spray in my opinion.  The room sprays are priced at £34 for 175ml which I don’t think is bad at all as they last an age.

The last item that I wanted to show you from my little collection is a candle from the new Just Like Sunday Collection which is made up of four scents designed to encapsulate the essence of a dream Sunday.

Jo Malone Sweet Almond and Macaroon Candle

The Jo Malone Sweet Almond and Macaroon Home Candle is delectable, warming and comforting.  It smells super sweet without being artificial and sickly.  It reminds me of nibbling macaroons in Laduree!  The scent is made up of sweet almond, creamy coconut, cherry and vanilla and what I really like about it is that you can identify and smell all of the notes.  The burn time for this size of candle is around 45 hours and it is £39 for 200ml.  It burns very cleanly and evenly and fills the room with scent.  I would highly recommend this candle as a gift for someone who likes sweeter scents because the presentation is fabulous as they come with a lid, gift wrapping and free matches if you order from their website.

Jo Malone are fantastic for gift wrapping as all products you buy come in gift boxes and bags with their signature ribbon free of charge.  If you order online you also receive complimentary shipping and samples.

You can purchase Jo Malone direct from their website and also on House of Fraser which is how I sometimes order as I like to collect my recognition points.  I think I’d really like to get one of the limited edition Rain Collection fragrances so I think that’s next on my list!

What are your favourite Jo Malone scents?  Which products would you like to have in your collection?

I've never tried these perfumes before but I am boring and don't tend to venture away from the one fragrance I do like. I love the bottles though very classic and stylish looking.
