The Stress Free At-Home Manicure with Nails Inc

Since my mid teens, I’ve regularly visited beauty salons for nail treatments but with so many great products available on the high street, I’ve been saving my pounds and painting my nails at home instead.  Not only have I got more money in my account each month now but I have more spare time too.

My speedy at-home manicure is all thanks to Nails Inc who have released a new collection of nail essentials that ensure DIY manicures are both stress and error free.

I start by removing my current nail polish and any dirt from my nails using the Nails Inc Express Nail Polish Remover Pot.  This dip and twist style pot has been given a makeover with new sleek black packaging.

It is so comfortable to use as the remover doesn’t sting or dry out my nails or fingertips.  I simply dip each finger in the remover soaked sponge in the pot, twist it around and my nail polish is gone.  I love how quick and easy it is to use and very effective at removing all nail polish in an instant thanks to the dense sponge that creates just the right amount of friction between itself and the nail.  I have found that even stubborn glitters and nail effect polishes, which are usually the bane of  my life to take off, remove super easily with this remover pot.

If they popped a sponge in the lid that I could use on my toes then this would be the perfect travel companion for me!

Once my nails are polish free, I move on to the Nails Inc SOS Nail Pen which is going to be an absolute essential for me when I travel to Morocco next month.  This new 3 in 1 tool is a nail addicts dream as you have everything you need to care for your cuticles, shape your nails and correct any nail polish mishaps all in one handy pen.

The SOS Nail Pen has a nail polish correcter on one end that you can use to clear up any mistakes that you’ve made when applying your nail polish.  I like to keep my nails short as I type a lot but this means that I often miss the end of the nail when applying my polish if I’m not careful so something like this is a godsend for me.  Before I used to use cotton buds but that would always mean that I’d have to have an actual bottle of nail polish remover on hand as well as one of the remover dip pots which I actually prefer.  This way, the remover and corrector tip is all in one making it a quick tool to use to tidy up mistakes around the nail.

There’s a cap on top of the corrector to stop it from drying out and there are some spare corrector tips housed on the opposite end of the pen.  The lid of the corrector pen has a tool to push back the cuticles and a file to shape the nails into the desired shape and to fix broken nails on the go.  I tend to push my cuticles back first and then file my nails into a squoval shape before moving onto painting them.

For the last couple of months, my most used nail polish shade has been the Nails Inc Gel Effect Polish in St James which is a gorgeous traditional red shade.  Bold, sexy and perfect to wear with black or white outfits.  I recently wore this polish with my new prom dress and the pairing was a match made in heaven.  I must admit that I haven’t been using a base coat recently as I am yet to find one that works well.  I’ve tried the Orly Bonder Base Coat several times in the past and I hate it because it makes my nail polish bubble which looks unsightly.  Perhaps I’ll try one from Nails Inc next although with nail polishes like St James that never stain my nails, I doubt I’ll even need one!

Aside from the beautiful colour, the finish is my favourite feature of this nail polish as it is so glossy thanks to the Plasticiser Technology in the formula.  This is designed to give the nails a shiny salon finish every time you apply it, just like the effect that gel nails give except that you don’t have to cure this polish under a UV light which makes it really quick to apply.  The drying time is quick as well, much more so than the standard Nails Inc polishes and only one coat is needed to give an opaque look but I still like to apply two, just in case I’ve missed any areas.  I find that the second coat seems to give the nail polish a more vibrant, punchy effect.

The lasting power is great at around 6 days and even longer if I use my favourite Insta-Dri Top Coat which makes my polish dry in seconds and leaves them with an even shinier appearance.

St James is the only gel polish that I’ve tried from Nails Inc but that may well change as there are so many amazing shades that are perfect for spring that a cheeky purchase may be in order… you can see them for yourself here.

Once my nail polish is dry, I complete a quick tidy up using the corrector pen, the nib of which is ergonomically designed so that there is a pointed tip, a flat side and rounded side and straight edges so that you can really get in there to remove even the most stubborn and small nail polish mistakes.  The remover solution is acetone free which makes it ideal to use on any nails, even those with gel polish or acrylics as the formula will not melt the product that is already on the nail.  It is also enriched with Jojoba Oil which has softening properties.

So that’s it for my speedy, stress free manicure that I usually complete from the comfort of my sofa while watching an episode of Midsomer Murders.

You can buy all of your favourite Nails Inc products from their website as well as from SelfridgesFeel UniqueVery, Debenhams, House of Fraser and Beauty Bay.

I love nails Inc and I've been using them almost exclusively since 2005! I was interested to see their new bottle design and the gel nail polish. I've not tried it yet but I must soon. St James looks great on you.

I have the Sephora nail polish remover that is similar to the Nails Inc Express Remover and I'm curious to see how they compare. I want that SOS pen though. The color you chose is so beautiful too by the way 🙂

I love the color of your nails! I've always wanted to try a corrector pen but wasn't sure if it would work, I wish I had picked up the one at Sephora today – they were on sale too!

I really admire the dedication and patience put into this, because I honestly do not have any patience for doing my nails. It's the kind of beauty thing I just do once in a while when I feel like it.

Hi Laura, I've just found your blog (when I was searching for Double Wear reviews online) and I must say I absolutely love your writing. I particularly like the level of detail you go into whilst never being boring or using space-filler irritating magazine prose. Yesterday I was so inspired by one of your "what I wore" posts I ended up buying three very similar items (white cardigan, white dress, blue/green scarf) online as I could see it would make the perfect outfit for an occasion I have coming up. Anyway, I will be browsing more of your past posts and look forward to your future posts!x
