Batiste are one of my favourite high street hair care brands. Regardless of their low price, their products are excellent quality, high performing and put the more pricey brands firmly in their place. I don’t need to go to higher end brands as Batiste gets it right every time. They have three new releases that I have been trying out and I can’t wait to tell you all about them. If you thought Batiste were all about dry shampoo then you would be correct but they’re also about dry conditioning and dry styling now too– intrigued? I thought so, read on…
Batiste Dry Shampoo Strength and Shine– £3.99 for 200ml from Boots
Starting with Batiste’s main product type, dry shampoo, Strength and Shine is their latest release to banish oily roots and revive lank hair. This newby to the dry shampoo pack has the same formula as all of Batiste’s other legends, with the added benefits of L-Arginine which is an amino acid proven to stimulate the hair at the follicle, helping to strengthen it and restore the hairs natural shine.
I have been using it in the same way as I use any of my other Batiste Dry Shampoos- simply spray into the roots and massage in but with this one, when I’m finished refreshing and reviving my hair, I give my hair one last spritz through the mid lengths and ends to give a little extra shine. Out of all of the Batiste dry shampoos I’ve tried, this one leaves the least white cast in the hair which is never a problem for me anyway as my hair is so light so it rubs away to nothing, but I know some of my darker haired readers find this a problem, so I’d say that if you’re not wanting to use the brunette Batiste then I’d give this one a go out of them all. I love the scent of Strength and Shine too. It smells just like the XXL Volume Dry Shampoo.
Batiste Dry Conditioner Smoothing Conditioning Mist– £3.99 for 200ml from Boots
Now I’ve heard of dry shampoo before but a dry conditioner? Absolutely genius Batiste- bravo! The new Smoothing Conditioning Mist is a dry conditioner that you spray on the ends of your hair to smooth brittle hair and tame frizz. This product is perfect for me as the roots of my hair are incredibly oily and in need of a daily dose of Batiste dry shampoo but the ends are dry, brittle, often frizzy and in need of a bit of hydration.
Batiste’s Dry Conditioner Smoothing Conditioning Mist is enriched with Argan Oil and smells incredible, just like the dry shampoo I’ve talked about above. It’s more like perfume for the hair! After I’ve used my usual dry shampoo and banished the grease and oil from my hair, I take this dry conditioner and spay it through the ends of my hair to make my hair look sleek and glossy. I’ve even tried using this on freshly washed hair just to smooth down the ends and it works a treat.
I was worried that this would make my hair greasy but it doesn’t at all. It is very light weight and a fine spray so it doesn’t weigh my hair down and the amount that comes out can be easily controlled. I love it!
Batiste Dry Styling XXL Plumping Powder– £3.99 for 5g from Boots
I’m saving the best until last with the Batiste Dry Styling XXL Plumping Powder. Considering I hate plumping powders, I’m absolutely bowled over by this one. This little pot of plumping goodness is seriously brilliant. Simply lift the hair, sprinkle a little tiny bit into the roots and massage into the hair. By adding only a little bit at a time, you’re able to gradually build up the volume in the hair until you achieve your desired look. The XXL Plumping Powder gives you instant volume in your hair and it really lifts the roots.
Usually these plumping volumising powders make your hair feel awful, now I’m not saying this one doesn’t give you the cotton wool feeling BUT it isn’t anywhere near as bad as other plumping powders that I’ve tried and for the first time EVER, I’ve been able to use a plumping powder and not feel inclined to wash my hair immediately after. I find that this soaks up excess oil really well too so when I wear this I often find myself going an extra day or two between washes.
What I love the most about this powder is how you can actually reactivate the plumping action if it looses a little of its volume. I wore this out last week when I had such a busy day- I travelled to Manchester in the baking sun to attend the FABB Bloggers event, then I drove all the way home to go to see Jimmy Carr in a theatre and then I went to a fancy dress party dressed as a ladybird all in the same day and whenever I felt like I needed to revive my hair a little, I’d just give it a massage at the roots and my hair would get its oomph back- AWESOME.
I’d really recommend this one and I’ll definitely be repurchasing it. I use this whether I’m wearing my hair down with a tonne of volume or pinned up where I use it to give my hair some grip and I find that it works excellently for both hair styles.
At the moment each of these products is available from Boots on special offer at £2.99 each but from August 6th they’ll be £3.99 so I’d recommend getting them on the offer while you can! If you’re more of a Superdrug shopper then you can head on over there to pick up your favourite Batiste products too.
