Origins Clear Improvement Mask Review

Origins Clear Improvement Mask Review
Origins Clear Improvement

When I want to give my skin a good clear out, I always opt for the Origins Clear Improvement Mask.

This is an active charcoal mask that’s designed to clear pores and let me tell you, it is pretty heavy duty stuff.  I’ve been using it since I bought it on my honeymoon last May and I’m now onto my second tube so its about time I told you about it!

Our skin gets clogged up so much with dirt, toxins, makeup and oil in our pores which can really dull the surface of the skin, not to mention give you unsightly blackheads.  I rarely get a lot of spots but I get a lot of clogged pores which I hate.  I’ll literally try anything to get rid of them as I love having clear, smooth skin.

Origins Clear Improvement Mask Review

One of the best products that I have found to clear my pores is the Origins Clear Improvement Mask which contains active charcoal that works like a magnet to draw out the impurities in the skin that clog the pores.  It also contains White China Clay which helps to absorb environmental pollutants and Lecithin which dissolves impurities on the skin.  This mask is free from sulphates, parabens and phthalates.

I use it once a week if my skin is feeling particularly clogged, for example if I’ve been wearing a lot of makeup that week but if I haven’t then I’ll use it every other week.

To apply this mask, I always cleanse my face first and then hold a touchably hot damp face cloth over my skin for a twenty seconds or so to open up my pores.  I then apply quite a thick layer over my whole face, reasonably evenly and leave it on for a good 15 minutes by which time the mask has dried completely.

Origins Clear Improvement Mask Review Swatch

Up until I used this mask, I thought that the GlamGlow Youth Mud (review here) was the most hardening face mask that I had ever used but then I tried out the Clear Improvement Mask and couldn’t believe how tight and hard it had become on my skin.  It literally felt uncomfortable and awkward to move my face, as though my face would crack, but in a strangely satisfying way.

The mask itself feels very cooling, almost gel like, without any strong scent whatsoever.  It is very non offensive.

Since the mask hardens solid, it is pretty difficult to remove.  I find that the best way is to use a muslin cloth soaked in touchably hot water and to rub the cloth over the skin using circular motions, running it back under the water from time to time.  I do still find that I am tugging at my skin a little, so perhaps not the best for those with incredibly sensitive skin, but it is definitely worth it.

My skin looks and feels INCREDIBLE after using this mask.  My pores look much clearer than they did before using the mask and the excess oil has been soaked up from my skin, although my skin doesn’t feel tight, overly dry or squeaky.  It looks perfected, clear and incredibly bright.  It feels as though this mask has cleared away the dead skin cells from my face and left my skin glowing from the inside.  I absolutely love it and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Origins Clear Improvement Mask Review

The only product that I have tried that I would liken this mask to is the Australian Bodycare Cleansing Face Mask but it is more gentle in the way that it hardens than the Origins one.  So if the Origins Clear Improvement mask is a little too tightening for you then I would suggest trying out the Australian Bodycare one.  You can read my full review of it here.

If you have clogged pores, dull skin or wear a lot of makeup then you simply MUST try the Clear Improvement mask.  I’ve been recommending it to all of my friends and they’re absolutely loving the results they’ve achieved.  One friend in particular suffers from those nasty under the skin spots on her chin and she has found that using this mask really helps to draw out the spot.  She uses it at night and the next day, the spot is at the surface of her skin ready to be gently eased out and wiped away which she finds is much more preferable than having a sore lump under her skin.

The Origins Clear Improvement mask is available, at the time of writing, on Feel Unique including a free deluxe sample of the GinZing Brightening Mascara and free delivery (Save £10 when you use £60 across the site using the Feel Unique discount code OURTREAT).

It is also available to buy directly on the Origins website as well as from Sephora, Debenhams and John Lewis in two different sizes, Selfridges, House of Fraser and Boots.

What did you think of this mask?  Got any recommendations for any pore clearing masks for me?

The Origins Charcoal Face Mask is one of my top favorites to use to clear my pores. A bit pricey but worth it. 😀 I also alternate using this with The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask (to help with breakouts + blemishes) and The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask (this one you can see little spots form where its pulling the stuff out of the pores). Great review Laura!x

I was so close to purchasing this face mask months back but I went with another face clearing mask from origins which I regretted purchasing because I only thought it was okay. I definitely will get this mask this time, it sounds like everything i need because i do wear a lot of makeup and i need something to help clarify my skin and keep it in check.
