Wow, what a weekend! The Curve Fashion Festival was absolutely incredible and it was lovely to meet so many of you and to hear your great feedback on the #WhatLauraLovesXCurvissa Collection. It felt so surreal to see my collection up on the catwalk, a real dream come true and definitely a highlight of my career so far.
I loved being on the Curvissa stand and seeing so many peoples reactions to the collection. Holding the garments in your hands and trying them on really gives you the opportunity to feel the amazing quality and to see how they fit the plus size figure beautifully well. I saw a lady try on and buy the Reverse Stitch Cardigan that I’m wearing in this post and it was lovely to see how happy it made her feel.
Don’t forget, if you missed out on attending The Curve Fashion Festival 2018, you can still take advantage of the 10% off Curvissa deal using my code PQ5P until 9th December. Full terms and conditions can be found in this blog post.
Plus at the end of this blog post I am going to be giving one of you the chance to WIN one of the casual pieces from my collection!
With teddy lining, this cardigan is so snuggly, it’s unreal and definitely one of those pieces that’s great to layer up over the colder months! I don’t know about you but I’m either too hot or too cold at this time of the year as the weather can never seem to make up its mind.
I like pieces that are worn a bit bigger and in warm, cosy fabrics that I can layer lighter items underneath, so that I can remove it when I’m too hot and my outfit still looks great underneath. On this occasion, I paired this cardigan with the Cropped Super Stretch Casual Jeggings that really are SUPER stretchy so I’d suggest ordering your usual size, or even the one below when purchasing. Same goes for the cardigan, it is definitely true to size. I’m wearing the 22/24.
When choosing the pieces that would go into my collection with Curvissa, I was really keen to curate a collection that had a wide variety of casual pieces because so many people tell me that they struggle when it comes to day wear.
I picked out really casual pieces like those in these blog post photographs and then more smart casual pieces like the plus size Faux Leather Jacket and the Scalloped Hem Knitted Dress which comes in beige marl, black and grey marl. When paired with a pair of long boots like the Jenny Wide Leg Stretch Boots, which are fabulous if you have a chunky calf like I do, this outfit would look equally as awesome in a less formal office environment as it would out for lunch with the girls. I love pieces that I can repurpose for different occasions and these two are definitely such garments.
You cannot go wrong with a faux leather jacket. They look great over everything from joggers and a hoody when you’re off to the gym to cute dresses or skinny jeans and a fancy top on a night out.
Equally as versatile, the jumper dress is another great staple to add to your wardrobe and I made sure that there are a few to choose from in my collection; just check out the gorgeous grey Wool Look Dress in the next image down to the one below. These pieces are great for workwear, day wear and can be dressed up to look smarter should you be going to the theatre or meeting friends on an evening.
There’s plenty more casual pieces in the collection and I’ve shared some product shots of them in the image below. Top left of course is the cardigan from this post, then we have the Embellished Sweatshirt which is perfect for those who, like me, love to add a touch of sparkle to their casual wardrobe. This is the perfect piece for wearing out to somewhere like the cinema where you want to look good but feel like you’re dressed down so you’re comfortable while watching the film.
The Collarless Check Blouse (bottom left in the image below) is another great casual piece that you can layer up with other items in your wardrobe too. I’ve been mostly wearing it over leggings or open over a black cami with jeans but I tucked it into the front of a leather and ponte skirt last week and it looked lush dressed up a little bit!
Then theres one of my favourite pieces from the collection, the Faux Fur Gilet that I fought tooth and nail to get into the range. Haha, it was touch and go as to whether or not it would be ready in time and we have EVERYTHING crossed that it would be. I was absolutely delighted when it was secured and arrived in time for the campaign shoot! The quality of this piece is stunning from the faux fur itself to the trim and the gorgeous satin lining. It is a layering piece you’ll be pulling out of your wardrobe for years to come and looks amazing over the top of the Longline Tie Waist Shirt which is what I wore to The Curve Fashion Festival and the burgundy Frill Detail Dress.
The finally, theres the Nordic Look Cardigan that I featured in this blog post. With the shawl collar and jacquard knit fabric, it is visually beautiful and when styled up with complimentary tones, it looks absolutely beautiful. While it does tie in the middle, I prefer the look of it open, like I styled it for the photoshoot which you can see on the product page.
