Denim; the trend that never goes out of fashion and the key piece that everyone should have in their wardrobe. No matter your shape, size, style or age, denim is a total classic and jeans especially are so versatile that they can be worn with most items that are already in your wardrobe. Yet why is it so difficult for plus size women to find the right denim for them? I’ve struggled for years to find jeans to fit me and thankfully since jeggings have become popular, I’ve been able to find the right style for my body shape and let me tell you, the way that I felt when I tried on my first great fitting pair of jeans was life changing.
Skinny fit styles are my go-to as I’m really out of proportion and often struggle with finding jeans that fit me around the middle that are slim enough on the legs and I know that many of you feel the same way too. Since jeggings have plenty of extra stretch, they’re ideal for me!
From experience, it’s worth investing your time in finding a great fitting pair because the right jeans can do wonders for how confident you feel in your outfits and I promise, theres a style out there for you. Don’t shy away from wearing denim; sure it can take a few tries to find the perfect style for you but its worth it to find such a comfortable pair of jeans that you can style up or down for almost every occasion. I’ve included two gorgeous pairs in my #LauraLovesAutumn Edit with Curvissa that so many women are going to love; a black stonewash pair that look more of a slim leg style on me but will fit closer to the leg on you if your calves are wider for more of a skinny fit and then my favourites, the Super Stretch Jeggings by Sheego in a gorgeous dark blue wash.
I love wearing slim leg jeans with trainers for a laid back look that keeps me ticking those trend boxes while I run errands and get my work done. Give them a try and let me know what you think but remember, the key to buying denim is ordering lots of different styles in different sizes and trying them all on to find the one! I guess in that sense, buying a pair of jeans is a little like buying a wedding dress and the great news is that Curvissa have a HUGE selection of plus size jeans so you’re always going to find a style that you can feel comfortable and confident in.
In fact, I can’t wait until the winter drop of my edit with Curvissa because I have two more pairs going into that collection which are amazing. One of the pairs are honestly my FAVOURITE jeggings ever, even surpassing my love for my all time faves (I’m sure you’ll know which pair I mean because I speak about them and wear them all the time- well not anymore!). Honestly when I put them on I was absolutely BUZZING. They’re super stretchy, super comfortable and fit really skinny all the way down my legs. You’re going to love them, especially if you’re shaped like I am with an out of proportion, lower hanging tummy and slimmer legs. Jeggings are always the best option of all of the jeans for me but these ones are even more so.
Jeggings are my favourite style of denim to wear because they stretch from every angle giving me a great fit with optimum comfortable which makes me feel so confident and relaxed when I’m wearing them. Rigid denim just isn’t for me as I love jeans that will move with me whether I’ve styled them with heels for dancing on a night out or with a blouse and embellished flats for casual days when I still want to look put together.
A style I’m really loving with these jeggings right now is a white t shirt, black blazer and the crisp white trainers from Nike that I put in my edit. Its a look thats smart yet dressed down and is really easy to wear when I don’t have much time to get ready on busy mornings. With denim being such a classic, it is really easy to wear on dress down days, nights out or weekends off work because it goes with much and its really easy to put together outfits without very little though.
However while plus size jeans may be a staple in everyones wardrobe, denim is such an iconic trend in itself so don’t stop at jeans; a crisp white shirt tucked into a plus size denim skirt is a look that’ll never go out of style and a denim dress is ideal for casual days all year round. For the warmer months or winter sun holidays, I love denim dresses in skater and smock shapes as they look effortlessly summery and pair really well with sandals or white trainers however for the autumn and winter months, the Soft Denim Dress By Sheego that I added to my #LauraLovesAutumn edit is a key piece in my wardrobe and I’ve already had so much wear out of it.
Now that the colder weather is here, I love wearing it with ankle boots (you could add some tights too if that’s your thing!) and layered up with the khaki parka coat from #LauraLovesAutumn however on warmer days I love it paired with the white trainers. You simply can’t go wrong with denim!
I’d love to know what your favourite styles of denim are, let me know in the comments!

I’m like you I love a slim cut jean – there is no better look maybe apart from flares which I hear are coming back! I absolutely would love this to be true!
I used to wear slim leg jeans all the time. Not worn them in ages although they were my favourite go to. I need to dig some out of the cupboard now the weather is getting colder and wear them with my jumpers.
I’m definitely going to be checking out Curvissa for denim – I always struggle to find some that fits me that is also comfortable!
You’re looking great! I can relate to your struggles of finding a fitting jeans even though I’m not plus sized. They tend to be either too short or too wide. I always end up needing to wear a belt…
OK I am going to have to check out their denim
I have to admit I haven’t worn jeans in years but used to live in them. Wish I could wear them again.
I’ll have to check into this brand as I have had issues finding denim that fits the way I like that is comfortable for years! I have even bigger problems with footwear.
Awesome looks, these! I have my most favourite pair of jeans (a charity shop find) that I like to dress up or down when needed. Denim is so versatile!
Those jeans look fab on you. It really is hard to find a great pair of denim and glad that you did. 😁
Such gorgeous looks! Finding decent jeans that fit well can often be a struggle these days!
