This outfit really is a bit of me right now. Laid back, earthy tones; I’m loving it from head to toe.
Lemme talk you through it.
The camel coat I purchased back in the autumn. I’d been given the black as a press sample and from the moment I tried it on, I knew I had to buy the same plus size waterfall coat in camel. It is MAJORLY chic. There’s something pretty beautiful about wearing nude tones like this and as you can see from my WhatLauraLoves Instagram, I’m adding more and more beautiful items to my wardrobe with this kind of colour palette.
I’m asked a lot about the sizing of this coat; I’m wearing a 24 and I’d say that if you want to wear it open, having removed the tie waist belt, with light pieces underneath then buy your usual size, or one above if you want a little more room. If you want to wear it closed with the tie waist then I’d go up a couple of sizes if you’re shaped like I am. Really though, I think that this is the kind of item that is best worn open.
I paired it with this gorgeous muted coral red top. I bought mine from the River Island website but it quickly sold out. Worry not, I found more stock online here. The RI Plus Corso Venezia Animal Foil T-shirt has a gorgeous print in the centre that really stands out without looking garish.
River Island is my favourite place to buy T-Shirts from. I’ve talked about this until I’m blue in the face on my Instagram but seriously; the styles are so different to other shops out there, they quality is amazing, they’re not see through at all, are a great fit and they wash really, really well. If you buy anything from River Island be it womens, plus size, kids or mens, make it a t shirt! They pair so well with my Molly jeggings which are hands down, the BEST jeans I’ve EVER worn. I teared up when I first tried a pair of Molly jeans on and I’ve been buying them ever since.
Keeping with the earthy, neutral tones, I accessorised with a bag and trainers from… surprise surprise, River Island. They have the best accessories on the highstreet for sure; I love that the bags are so distinctly RI. I always recommend them to those who either don’t have the budget for designer or who don’t want to allocate their budget to designer because they’ll get a really beautiful bag, something a little different and something that’s high quality but with an affordable price tag. The Beige Saddle Lock Front Chain Cross Body Bag that I’m wearing here is perfect for when you just want to carry the essentials with you. The beige and white colour-way with the gold hardware works so well with the neutral, earthy tones of this outfit and I can see it working so well with summer dresses when the weather warms up too!
The Khaki Runner Trainers (also available in black, white and beige) are ridiculously comfortable and so lightweight underfoot. I’ve worn them countless times since I bought them, so much so that I’m tempted to get them in the other colours. The knitted style design is really unique but its the colour that I love the most. Khaki is a shade that I fell in love with many years ago and I still haven’t got enough of it! I don’t know how much wear I’ll get out of these over the summer months but come the autumn, I’ll be reaching for them again for sure. For now though, I’m going to get as much wear out of them as I can!
What do you think of my outfit? Do you like to wear neutrals and earthy tones?
