The Customs House Panto 2019: My Review of Snow White

Snow White Customs House Panto Review

Is The Customs House Pantomime the fairest in the land?  Oh yes it is!

This year, like every other, I want to save you and your family money. Going to the panto isn’t always cheap but it can be the best money and time you’ll spend together as a family all year, if you choose the one you go to wisely.

With that in mind, if you’re in the North East, specifically the Tyne and Wear area, the ONLY panto id recommend is the one at The Customs House in South Shields.

Fox and Shriek

This year it’s Snow White and like every year, the witty script is written specifically for The Customs House so you’re not getting a generic panto with the odd local gag inserted here and there like you will at other theatres all over the country and the superb costumes are designed once again by the fabulous Fox and Shriek (pictured) are bespoke to The Customs House too.

When you visit the little panto with the big heart, you’re getting an experience thats unique to the theatre, area and audience and its one you’ll never forget.

The set looks enchanting and you’re sat captivated from start to finish when watching Snow White.

Your favourite actors are back as are some new faces and it’s so lush to hear our local accent up there on stage entertaining a packed out theatre.  Dame Bella played by Ray Spencer aka local hero Tommy The Trumpeter and Arbuthnot played by man of the people, Davey Hopper, are the most hilarious panto duo you’ll ever see and I urge you to not miss their comedy gold up on stage.  They make my Christmas every single year.

What I love about this panto is that I laugh till I cry every time I see it; the script is so cleverly written that the kids are laughing away while the adults are howling at some of the jokes that go over the kids heads. The story of Snow White is told while challenging stereotypes and is such a joy to watch.

I go to the press night and buy tickets for my family and I throughout the run as every time I see the panto it takes on a new light as the actors have go many off the cuff one liners.  EVERYONE I know loves it from my 11 year old step son to my future mother in law.  It’s a panto for the whole family and is worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY.
