As much as I don’t want to admit it, the autumn months are fast approaching. I read online earlier that the first day of autumn is officially 22nd September this year which isn’t too far away at all.
With that in mind, I’ve been researching some of the trends that are going to be coming up and the clothing styles that I can expect to see in the shops. I’m not a trend led dresser at all, as I like to see something and buy it because I like it, not because it falls into a particular trend but I do like to know what is out there so that I can see if there any pieces that would suit me or that I would like to add to my wardrobe. Often trend led pieces come and go so if you want to buy them, you need to get in there quickly!
For this coming season, the catwalks have been alight with the hottest trends for AW15, and design
houses have been showing off their dress designs in preparation for the change
in season. To bring you up to speed, here are some of the standout trends and
must buy items to get in your wardrobe this autumn. I’ve focused on dresses as I thought that that would be particularly helpful as we all seem to go to lots of parties in the run up to Christmas.
The Asymmetric Hemline

First up is the asymmetric hemline dress. This type of dress usually has a hemline that is longer at one side than the other rather than being cut straight across. New
York Fashion Week was amazed by the use of the asymmetric hemline by designers
such as Victoria Beckham and Marchesa. This hemline style is very appealing to
the eye as well as being flattering on the person wearing it. I think that it looks so chic and feminine; ideal for if you’re going to a swanky drinks party! The Parisian
turtle neck sleeveless bodycon dress with tuck detail is a gorgeous example
of this style, and the asymmetric hemline is destined to be a must have for any
woman this season.
|70s Paisley Print Dress from Parisian- Image Source|
70’s have inspired a huge selection of this season’s hottest trends with the
hippie and bohemian looks being everywhere you look. Dresses are a large part
of this retro movement with pieces such as the Paisley
print Bardot dress from Parisian quickly becoming must-haves for women
keeping up with autumn 2015’s latest looks. You can pair the 70s paisley print style dresses with a fur trimmed waistcoat for long or short sleeve items or a jacket for all styles, including the bardot, to keep you warm while sticking to the 70s trend.
This summer, I have been loving the off the shoulder, bardot style of tops and dresses like in this outfit post pictured above and in this holiday outfit post. They look so effortlessly cool. I’m really looking forward to carrying this trend through to the autumn and trying out some 70s inspired prints to see if they’d suit me!
Slits in dresses come and go all the time in
fashion and in autumn 2015 they are set to be back in a big way. This season
the trend appears to be leaning towards a single slit up the thigh, often seen
on the runways teamed with thigh high boots although I think that they look best with strappy sandals. Some of my favourites are above, just click along to view and click on the dress to head to the item on the brands website. I’ve tried to include a variety of sizes, styles and colours.
I think that slit dresses are the ultimate occasion style of dress as they look so glamorous. If you’re going to a special event this autumn and want to add a touch of glamour and
sexiness to your wardrobe then try out a slit dress whether a subtle split or a thigh high slit.
|Peekaboo Lace Dress from Parisian- Image Source|
The peekaboo lace dress has to be one of the prettiest trends on the
catwalk this autumn. It has actually been around for years, looking classic and feminine and I’m pleased that it is here to stay for this year too. With the combination of lace, skin and silhouette, this
style is elegant and chic. Pieces such as the Parisian
lace long sleeved shift dress showcase the lace trend beautifully and it makes
for a stunning party dress to add to your wardrobe this season.
