Over the last couple of months, I’ve been trying out three nail polishes from a new nail polish brand, The Lacquer Lab.
Started in 2014, the Lacquer Lab was started by a mother and daughter beauty lovers, Amanda and Emily. I had the pleasure of meeting Emily at the Trilogy event that I went to recently, you can read about it here; she is so lovely and it is great to hear someone talk with so much passion about the products they’ve created. So when these arrived in the post a few days later, I had high hopes for them.

The three polishes that I have been trying out are all from the Novella Collection which was the winter release from The Lacquer Lab. Theres six polishes in the collection, 5 luxe-creme formulas and 1 glitter that are all designed with femininity and glamour in mind.
The three polishes that I have are Storyteller, Lover At The Ritz and The Wondrous which are all luxe-creme formulas.

Each of The Lacquer Lab nail polishes are blended by hand right here in the UK with the latest fashionable shades in mind. All of the polishes vegan friendly and ethically made with a formula that is free of five nasty toxins- Formaldehyde, Toluene, Camphor, DBP and phthalates or formaldehyde resin.

The Lover At The Ritz polish is described as being a plum shade however I would say it is more of a reddy purple brown colour as when I think of plum, I tend to think of something with a little more of a purple tone than this.
While not a nail colour that I would usually opt for, I found that this dark colour was a great shade for wearing day to night. The hue is sophisticated for work but looks great with an LBD too. I’ve worn this polish on both my fingers and my toes and it looked great peeping through my peep toe heels.
Storyteller is a moody blue that is quite unlike anything else in my collection. The colour is perfect for the colder months as it is a very wintry shade.
I usually find that blue nail polish doesn’t suit my nails however this one is different as it is a muted colour that is very creamy, so if you usually think the same about blue on your fingernails then I’d suggest giving this one a try.
Lover At The Ritz and Storyteller were the best to apply out of the three polishes. They were bold and even after only one application, however I would usually paint two coats out of habit. To give yo a comparison, in these photos, I have painted two coats of Lover At The Ritz and one coat of Storyteller on my nails so that you can see the difference. As you can see, I could have easily left my nails at one coat.
The Wonderous is a beautiful light pink nude toned nail polish that happens to be my favourite colour of the bunch. This is a very pretty polish that takes a little more work than the other two that I have tried out as it needs a good two to three coats to achieve full opacity and it dries quite chalky. Regardless of the number of coats I needed to apply, I found that all of the nail polishes dried pretty quickly.
While The Wonderous nail polish doesn’t apply as evenly as the other two that I’ve tried, it is worth taking your time to apply as it is so gorgeous when on the nails. It looks very feminine and is perfect for day or night wear.
Each of the polishes that I tried have a gorgeous creamy formula and they look thick and creamy on the nails which is my favourite nail polish look. Lover At The Ritz and Storyteller have a beautiful glossy finish that isn’t too unlike having gel nails. However The Wonderous is a little more matte and I find that I need to apply a top coat to achieve the glossy appearance that I get from the other polishes. I think this one would look particularly great with the glitter top coat from the Novella Collection.
I love the look of the packaging of The Lacquer Lab polishes as they stand out and look very smart amongst my collection. The shape of the lid makes the polish easy to handle when applying and the generous 10ml bottles will keep me in beautiful nail colours for a long time!
Each of The Lacquer Lab polishes are £9 each and there’s always great offers on. They’re currently having a sale, so now is the perfect time to check out the website to find your dream nail polish colour.
