The Weekend Edit #2: The Poorly Bank

When it comes to feeling ill this week has really taken the biscuit.  I’m quite partial to the common cold but I’ve never had the flu like this before.  One week on and I’m still lying in bed with very little energy and today has been the first day I’ve felt able to open my laptop, let alone my make up bag.

When I’m ill, the thought of wearing make up is far from my mind and instead I focus on skincare in a bid to keep my skin soft through all of the nose blowing, and for that, I crack out my big three.  Starting with a layer of the incredibly thick Extremely Rich Compensating Cream from Avene.  This super soothing moisturising cream is the only one I’ve found to pull my skin back from being sore and flaky when I have a cold.  I apply it every night and then during the day if I catch my skin starting to get tight and sore.  I have oily skin so this would usually be too heavy for me to wear as my usual moisturiser but for a pick me up when I have a cold, it’s perfect, and my skin always looks great after wearing it, despite being poorly.  To perk up my eyes, I’ve been using the last of my Origins GinZing eye cream which works wonders at brightening and de puffing my eye area, especially after a sleepless night coughing.  Lastly, I slick on some of my favourite lip balm to soothe my sore, chapped lips.  The Born Lippy lip balm from The Body Shop is watermelon flavoured and deliciously moisturising.  I’ve used these lip balms for years and always go back to them as they remind me of my childhood, not to mention the fact that they work very well!

With those three applied from my bank of products I use when I’m poorly, all that’s left for me is to snuggle under my leopard print throw and have a cap of Night Nurse… Zzzzz
