Looking after ourselves and our health isn’t as simple as going for a run, there are so many different aspects that we need to look at. If anything, the last year in lockdown has shown us how important it is to look after ourselves and make sure that we also make ourselves a priority. So often people are so worried about their friends, family, and kids, which is a fabulous thing to do. But, they forget to look after themselves, they burn out or start to suffer from their mental health. So take this year and use it to start putting yourself first a bit and get yourself more healthy.
Mentally
One of the things a lot of people tend to forget to look after is their mental health. It doesn’t have to take much time but is very important and vital to be able to look after yourself in other ways. You can take a bit of time each day and think about what you are grateful for, reflect on the day and how it has made you feel, and look at things like living more mindfully and practicing meditation. There are apps you can get on your phone now that help you meditate and learn how to do it in the best way.
Skincare
Looking after your skin is something else a lot of people forget, it is the biggest organ we have so should be something we remember to look after. As time goes on our skin can start to lose its luster, glow, and plumpness but there are things you can get to help it. Zo Skin Health have an array of skin enhancers that can help with pore refining, cellulite, and concealing blemishes. Another great thing you can do for your skin is to drink more water, it can help your skin look and feel better in no time.
Food
A quite obvious thing to look after your health is being more mindful of what you are putting into your body. Having a lot of junk food and sugar will just contribute towards you not feeling great as you’ll be generally just not giving your body all of the nutrients it needs to run. Try to make sure you have fruits and vegetables with your meals throughout the day. It is simple to do, just make sure your fridge is fully stocked and you are good to go. You can do a smoothie with your breakfast where you can add all sorts of things like spinach, banana, strawberries, and blueberries. Then you can look at adding salad and vegetables with your lunch and dinner. Perhaps you could even try your hand at making some vegan recipes! Try growing herbs, vegetables, or even mushrooms indoors for easy access to the ingredients. There are vegetable and mushroom grow kits that are perfect for beginners. A mushroom grow kit can thrive on your kitchen top and will produce baby mushrooms in two weeks’ time. When you grow your own food, you have fresh ingredients at hand for your favourite healthy dishes. Your body will thank you and you will notice that you have a lot more energy.
Exercise
You don’t have to go to the gym for hours every day to look after your body physically. Even going for a brisk walk will help, you just want to make sure you are elevating your heart rate and before you know it you will be walking faster and further without realising it.
