Last summer, Vichy launched their first sun protection water and it became a huge hit; stocks sold out quickly and after my first bottle, I found it so hard to find another when it came to needing to repurchase it. As someone who applies sun protection religiously when I’m in the sunshine, I tried out the Vichy Idéal Soleil Solar Protective Water while on holiday in Jamaica and posted this review of it where I raved about how amazing it is.
I was fully intending to buy more bottles this summer but then I discovered that they have released a new version; the Vichy Idéal Soleil Solar Protective Water Antioxidant SPF 30. This new sun protection made its way into my case on my work trip to Portugal with Simply Be and I tested it out in the gorgeous sunshine that we had while there.
The Vichy Idéal Solar Protective Water Antioxidant SPF30 is a brand new broad spectrum formula to protect the skin from the harmful rays of the sun. It is so important to adequately protect your skin when in the sun as not only can sun exposure lead to skin cancer but also premature skin ageing and damage, none of which any of us would welcome, I’m sure. The new formula contains blueberry polyphenols which are a high performing antioxidant ingredient that add a further line of skin defence against the ageing effects of exposure to the sun.
Just like the original, it has an oil in water formula that feels so light on the skin. It spritzes with ease and leaves the skin lightly glistening. It literally feels as light as water, not greasy in the slightest, and it sinks into the skin really easily. I love how soft it makes my skin feel and my boyfriend agrees too. Since the weather has been glorious in the UK, we’ve been using the rest of the bottle up on our trips down to South Shields beach and even my man’s tough skin has felt the benefit of using this SPF not just for its sun protection benefits but for how softening it is too.
The oil in water sun protection formula is in two separate phases so you need to shake it to wake it, so to speak as water and oil do separate when left standing. The oil phase has filters, emollients and skin softening Vitamin E whereas the water phase is made up of Vichy’s Thermal Mineralising Water which is potent, mineral rich, proven to stimulate antioxidant defences and improve the skins barrier function to leave it feeling moisturised and revived.
Naturally, as with all sun protection products, reapplication is necessary after excessive sweating, towelling and swimming however I’ve found that it does feel as though it lasts on my skin for a long time when I apply it and I haven’t burned once with it on. I’m very diligent with my SPF application as I always think that its better to be safe than sorry and the fact that this one is easy to spray from various angles makes that so much less of a chore. The 200ml bottle seems to go a long way as the spray is so light, it covers a large area and I’d say that it is great value for money.
We’ve already bought another bottle online to take with us to Bali later in the year. The sun there is so strong so its important to make sure that you’re more than adequately protected and with Vichy, I’m so confident that I am when using their products. French skincare always tends to be top notch and I’m yet to be disappointed by this brand.
I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the Vichy Idéal Antioxidant Soleil Protective Water to be your SPF choice for your next trip or even for using on warmer days in the UK. You can never be too careful when it comes to looking after your skin. It is the largest organ on your body so you need to make sure that you protect it, nourish it and care for it.
The Vichy Idéal Antioxidant Soleil Protective Water is available to purchase from Feel Unique and Look Fantastic.
I haven’t tried this but the fact that it’s light like water is great. I don’t like that heavy feeling some products have.
OK now this sounds like a must have product to have with you over the summer. It sounds like it would be quite cooling as well as protective. I may just have to buy some.
I’ll definitely be getting some of this for Cyprus in a couple of weeks
Sunscreen is so important, I burn so easily. I like it is light on the skin so you don’t feel as though you have a thick lotion on
It sounds much lighter than a suncream and I think I’d like the oily finish on my skin.
It’s important to bring sunscreen since it’s quite hot nowadays. That sounds like a great product, might check that out.
Someone told me that sunscreen should be our best friend. I love checking out different brands of sunscreen. I want something that’s light when worn and doesn’t feel sticky.
