Vichy Idéal Soleil Solar Protective Water Review

Vichy Idéal Soliel Solar Protective Water Review

Keeping my skin protected in both Bali and Jamaica this summer has been the Vichy Idéal Soleil Solar Protective Water.

A unique oil in water consistency that feels light and softening on the skin, it gives my skin the SPF 30 protection it needs when I’m sunbathing while still enabling me to achieve a gorgeous golden tan. I always opt for the highest factors I can when it comes to sun protection, regardless of the country I’m going to. There’s a huge misconception that wearing a high factor stops you from tanning which is false, it simply stops you from burning and helps to reduce the risks associated with sun exposure, such as skin cancer and premature skin ageing.  Essentially, by wearing a high factor, you can stay out in the sun for longer before needing to reapply.  In a way, this can mean that you’ll use the product more slowly as you’ll not be using as much and can therefore save yourself money by not needing to buy as many bottles.  Of course, reapplication is always necessary after excessively sweating or swimming and towel drying but this formulation is great because it does have some water resistance to it.  The formulation sort of creates a barrier on the skin that water droplets sit on top of and sort of glide off, so if I just go for a quick dip or swim over to sit at the pool bar, I’m ok!

There are currently two formulations of the UV filter rich Vichy Solar Protective Water; hydrating and tan enhancing, which Vichy claim to have formulated as being safe for both the face and body.  I have the hydrating formula that’s enriched with hyaluronic acid and now that I’ve seen how great it is, the tan enhancing formula is on my radar to buy next as you all know much I love to look bronzed!

I first tried out the Solar Protective Water when I went to Bali back in May.  In the run up to my trip, I was kindly gifted a bottle to try out from Vichy and I loved using it that much while I was away that I bought a bottle for my boyfriend and I to use out here in Jamaica.  We’ve just got to the end of the bottle and I thought it was about time I give you my thoughts on it.

What we love about the Vichy Idéal Soleil Solar Protective Water is the way it makes our skin feel hydrated and silky soft while being, most importantly, highly protective.  It sinks in really quickly which my boyfriend loves because he likes to be up and out in the mornings.

The formulation is unique and unlike either of us have tried before.  The inclusion of hyaluronic acid impresses me as this is a youth inducing ingredient that I look for in my skincare products as it helps to plump the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines.

Something that I really appreciate is that it has never stained my swimwear, towel or beach coverup which many, many other products have.

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this SPF again and I’d certainly recommend it to you all to try out, especially as it’s dermatologically tested and suitable for even sensitive skin.

The hydrating formula is available from the Vichy websiteEscentualFeel Unique and Look Fantastic you can pick up the tan enhancing versions from Look Fantastic and Beauty Expert.

Now this sounds like a really interesting sun screen. I find it interesting that it is an oil based water, it sounds like it would be quite easy to apply and I would be interested in giving it a try.
