Mr WLL and I like to live life a little spontaneously at times. Now I don’t mean going on sky dives at the drop of a hat or flying off to Cannes for the weekend but we often are sitting in our PJs watching the TV and one of us will say, lets pop out for the day. Whether we go for a drive in the countryside, out for lunch or to the cinema, it is often a last minute decision that results in a quick mad dash to get ready.
For such occasions, I like to opt for an all black outfit with a colourful kimono and then I pick out a colour from the kimono to match my accessories to. I like doing this because black is so easy to wear, it suits everyone and can just be pulled on to leave you looking put together in an instant.
The kimono that I opted for is one of my most favourite pieces in my wardrobe right now; the Carmen Floral Kimono from Boohoo and judging by the response on my Instagram and Twitter, many of you love it too!
It has quite a boxy shape, with plenty of room in the sleeves as well as a generous fit overall. While lightweight, the fabric still feels substantial and not flimsy at all like a summertime kimono. This is definitely a more autumn appropriate kimono from Boohoo but one that is perfect for those who still like to add a bright pop of colour to their wardrobe when the leaves start to fall.
I absolutely adore the colours that make up this kimono- coral, mint and a cobalt blue. It is definitely an eye catcher and a piece that gets lots of compliments whenever I wear it. I’ve just got back from Turkey and wore this on the plane to keep me warm when in the air. It was so comfortable but looked great too. I really cannot recommend it enough!
The easiest way to pull together an outfit like this is to pick out a colour from the kimono and accessorise the outfit using that colour. That’s why I selected my coral clutch from River Island from my collection. Its a little beauty and is more or less the same colour as the coral in the kimono, score!
For footwear, I kept it plain and simple with my Ipanema Classic Women’s Flip Flops which have to be the most comfortable flip flops I own. I recently purchased a pair of Birkenstocks and they’re the most uncomfortable shoes I own. I’m really hoping I’m able to break them in a little but they hurt my feet so much to wear. I took the Ipanemas and the Birkenstocks away with me to Turkey and spent the week in my Ipanemas as they were SO much more comfortable and feel great under foot.
I’ve been looking for a pair of good quality black flip flops for a long time and these tick all the right boxes for me. I love how the classic design is very understated and the branding isn’t over the top or in your face so they go with so many different outfits and can easily be dressed up or down. The classic footbed makes them so comfortable too and they’re really easy to walk in for a long time as they don’t rub between your toes or underfoot. They feel supportive without being hard or too firm.
This is my first pair of Ipanema’s and I will definitely purchase more in the future.
