WhatLauraWore: Dressing Designer and Highstreet and Spotting a Good Deal

When it comes to dressing, I like to combine the fast fashion pieces that the high street has to offer with high end accessories that are timeless and the outfit that I’m wearing here demonstrates this very well.  Often I am able to spot great deals on designer items but more often than not, they’re still a pretty penny after a discount has been applied so I tend to stick to handbags, jewellery and sunglasses for my designer splurges and opt for great deals on the high street for shoes and clothes.  Of course, if there were some shoes that I really loved that were designer and if they had a good deal on them then I may be tempted but on the whole this high street clothing, designer accessory arrangement tends to be what I stick to.

The outfit I’ve put together here combines a great light weight summer poncho in a gorgeous mint green colour from Curve Clothing (£14) with a cream strappy vest (£2.99) and a pair of denim jersey leggings (£9.99) from New Look and some floral plimsolls that were around £4 from Primark.  The clothes and shoes I’m wearing here come to just short of £31 which isn’t bad at all for fast fashion pieces that I’m enjoying right now.  Then I’ve paired them with my Ray Ban sunglasses and Mulberry handbag which are pieces I’ll still be wearing in ten years time.

I absolutely love this top, it is so comfortable and effortless to wear- just pop it on and go.  It is so affordable too and saved me a fortune compared to other fashion shops selling similar pieces.  I think this would make a great cover up to go over my swimming costume while I’m on holiday with some little shorts underneath.

I’d love to know how good you all are at spotting a good deal and if you have any tips and tricks for me then do let me know them!  There’s also this fun infographic online called ‘Can you spot a good deal?’ that tests your perception as to what makes a good deal- there are 7 different items all with fictional price tags for you to decide whether or not you think each item is a good deal.  I must admit, I got 5 out of 7 correct and was majorly let down as I couldn’t understand why anyone would want to pay £150 for a plain white tshirt… or £90 for that matter! Haha let me know how you get on in the comments!
